After years of trying, Chuck Clise roared to his first ever Late model feature win at Bedford Speedway Friday night.  In the Limited event, Josh Berrier duplicated that feat as he also scored his first career win at the track.   Chris Chamberlain came from deep in the field to claim another Semi Late win before Bill Replogle took the Pure Stock event.  Dan Jackson won his third 4 Cylinder race of the season to end the evening.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>     After an early season of hard luck,  Chuck Clise finally was rewarded with an up front starting spot.  He responded  by jumping into the lead at the start and running off.  But after a few laps Greg Fetters had run Clise down and the race was on.  Lap after lap Fetters gave Clise all he could handle at the front but Clise repelled every challenge.   </div>
<div> </div>
<div>      Behind the leaders,  Scott Lebarron and Brian Booze were charging through the field.  With only a single caution in the race  Lebarron moved  up from tenth to fourth by lap 10.   He got be Andy Haus for third with 5 to go bu could not close on the lead pair.  Booze closed on Haus  over the last few laps but his charge forward stopped at  fifth for the evening.<span id="more-568"></span></div>
<div> </div>
<div>   At the finish, Clise won by a few lengths over Fetters, while Lebarron, Haus and Booze trailed.  Two time 2012 winner Jack Pencil led the second 5, followed by Matt Sponaugle, Scott Haus, Jeff Miller and Cory Weaver.  DJ Troutman  and Booze won the heats.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>    Josh Berrier went pole to pole in his first ever triumphant run.  He took the lead from Travis Calhoun at the start and  held off a charge from Mike Altobelli late for the win.  Altobelli and Tim Smith had started deep in the field and ran Berrier down late before Berrier held on for the win.  At the finish, it was Berrier, Altobelli, Smith and Robby Black who closed in on everyone in the closing laps.   Jesse Snyder, Donnie Farlling, Brian Lessley, Brian Duffy, Nathan Lasalle and Calhoun completed the top 10.  Black and Lessley won the heats.</div>
<div> </div>
<div> </div>
<div>     As the most recent winner,  Chris Chamberlain started eighth in the Semi Late field and slowly inched forward from the start.   Tim Wyles was the early leader but Chamberlain was second and closing by lap 6.   After four laps of battling, Chamberlain took over and ran to the finish.  Bob Jay and Bill Henney rallied to chase down Wyles late but ran out of laps to make a pass.   At the finish it was Chamberlain, Wyles, Jay, Henney and Cody Butterbaugh.  Henney and Darryl Whetstone won the heats.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>      Bill Replogle turned a season of hard luck into an up front stating spot in the Pure Stock event.. He jumped  around Bill Kennel at the start and led the duration.  Behind Replogle,  a race long battle erupted between Lou Wannon, Chad Gambol which was joined late by Mike Norris.  Norris got by Gambol late but ran out of laps before advancing further.  At the finish it was Replogle for the first time this season, followed by Wannyn, Norris, Chad Gambol, Charlie Walter and Travis Group.   Gambol and Replogle won the heats.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>    The 4 Cylinder event was once again the wildest  race of the night.    Cale Martin led the first lap and Josh Datko the second before Dave Lambert took over    Ron Valentine thrilled   the fans on lap 5 with a wild flip in turn two bringing out the red flag.   On the restart, Lambert found himself in a battle up front as Dan Jackson  and a fast closing Jarrod Barclay went at it.   Jackson took over on lap 10 and held off Barclay for the win.</div>
<div>When Barclay failed post race inspection,  Lambert was credited with second, followed by Steve Frederick, Cindy Rhodes and Tyler Beckett.  Martin and Mike Lauffer won the heats.</div>

Bedford Speedway beat the weather and Jack Pencil beat the field Friday night.    Pencil took the 25 lap Late Model event with a late race rally, becomming the first repeat winner of the 2012 season.  In other action,  Robby Black dominated the Limited Late Model model event while Chris Chamberlain won the Semi Late race,  Travis Group was the Pure Stock winner and Dave Lambert won the 4 Cylinder closer.</p>
<div> Eric Zembower, after a dominating heat race victory was the Late Model pole sitter and early leader. Jeff Rine emerged from the pack and began to reel in the leader but Pencil was third and was catching them both.  Rine and Pencil had caught Zembower by  the time  Matt Sala brought out the only caution of the event on lap 11.</div>
<div> </div>
<div> On the restart Rine immediately worked on Zembower and the two raced hard for 6 laps before Rine got by.   Pencil got by Zembower a lap later and set out after Rine..  With Rine on the bottom,  Pencil swung to the outside and with two laps to go edged ahead.  Pencil then roared to his second win of the season.  Rine chased the winner across the line, followed by Zembower, Matt Sponaugle, Ron Delano, Jamie Lathroum, Matt Parks, Jeff Miller, Chris Harr and Cory Weaver.  Zembower and Lathroum won the heats.<span id="more-559"></span></div>
<div> </div>
<div>After early season hard luck, Robbie Black started on the pole for the Limited 20 lap event.  He got the drop  on Josh Berrier at the start and dominated the race. Tim Smith worked into second position early and was all over Black  for several laps, but Black got stronger as the race went on and Smith faded back into the clutches of Berrier  after halfway.  Berrier could not get back by Smith and followed the lead pair across the line.  Mike Altobelli Jr rallied late to take fourth, followed by Dave Leidy, Matt Howsare, Eric Irvin, Donnie Farlling, Jesse Snyder, and Travis Calhoun.  Smith and Black won the heats.</div>
<div>  </div>
<div>Zane Weicht was the early Semi Late leader butChris Chamberlain caught him by lap three and took over.  Chamberlain pulled out to a good lead as Weicht held off  Kerry Molovich and Bill Henney for the duration. </div>
<div>At the finish it was Chamberlain, Henney, Weicht, Molovich,  Darryl Whetstone, Tim  Wyles, Cody Butterbaugh  and Taylor Farlling.  Henney and Whetstone won the heats</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Travis Group started on the pole and led the distance in the Pure Stock 15 lapper but he had a crowd at the front.  Charlie Walter came from eighth to chase down the leader and the pair ran several laps side by side before a last lap caution slowed the field.  On the restart Group held off Walter for the win.Lou Wannyn , who ended the race last week in the air atop Rob Varner , ran third followed by Chad Gambol, and Mike Norris.  RT  Trutman and Bill Replogle won the heats.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Mike Lauffer was the early 4 Cylinder leader but Dave Lambert  emerged from the crowd and ran him down.  On lap 6, Lambert took over and ran to the finish.  Lauffer was second at the line ahead of Steve Frederick, Dan Jackson and Cale Martin.  Lambert and Jackson won the heats.</div>
<div> </div>

Rick Singleton made his 2012 debut a winning one with victory in the 25 lap event Friday night at the Bedford Speedway.  Singleton, who has flirted between the Late Model and Limited fields for years,  waxed the field  of heavy hitters with his steel block 358 car Limited legal.  In other action, DJ Troutman took the 20 lap Limited event with a dominating performance while  60 year old Darryl Whetstone won the Semi Late race . Charlie Walter  took the Pure Stock event after a wild first lap pileup wiped out much of the field before Dan Jackson was credited with the  4 Cylinder win after a grinding crash ended the festivities at only 8 laps</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Singleton won the pole in the pre race draw and didnt waste his opportunity.  He shot by Andy Haus at the start and ran off from the field.  Scott Haus jumped in to second on the second lap and was soon joined by Jeff Rine in third  but Singleton was pulling away.    Haus and Rine battled  hard until Haus brought out the first caution on lap 16 by drifting to a halt in turn 4. The yellow closed the field and Rine made a bold move on the restart actually moving ahead. But Singleton regained his rythm and again moved away.</div>
<div>  </div>
<div>Jack Pencil arrived on Rines bumper as the laps wore down but was unable to effect a pass.  At the finish it was Ssingleton  easily over Rine and Pencil.   Jerry Bard was fourth followed by Chad Hollenbeck, Matt Parks, Justin Kann,  Greg Fetters , Ron Delano and Eric Zembower.  Scott Haus and Hollenbeck won the heats.<span id="more-552"></span></div>
<div> </div>
<div>Much like the Late Model event,  DJ Troutman started  on the pole and ran off from the Limited field.   With the only yellow appearing for a minor incident at the halfway point,  Troutman created a huge lead  twice.  Brian Duffy ran second and they both pulled off  to a huge margin over the field at the finish.   Duffy took second but was light on the scale,  moving Craig Perigo to that spot and crediting Troutman with even a larger margin of victory.  Mike Altobelli Jr, Dave Leidy, Matt HowsareDon Farlling, Tim SmithBrian Lessley, Jesse Snyder and Travis Stickley trailed.  Rance Garlock and Howsare won the heats.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Darryl Whetstone went pole to pole in the Semi Late event,  although he had to hold off a late race charge from Chris Chamberlain.  Chamberlain had started  fifth in the field and ran Whetstone down . A yellow with two laps to go gave Chamberlain a final shot but Whetstone held to the finish.  Chamberlain was second ahead of John Whitfield, Zane Weicht and Bob Jay.  Chamberlain and Jay won the heats</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Action started early in the Pure Stock event.  A huge pileup in the first turn  on the first lap decimated the field and took a half hour to clean up.   It began when the field piled up and Rob Varner began a series of wild flips.  It ended with Varner on his side and the car of Lou Wannyn on top of him, with  a total of 10 cars involved.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>On the restart, Michael Ott  had the lead but it was a six car pack at the front.  Ott held off alternately Charlie Walter and Chad Gambol until they both got by on lap 9.   After that Walter held on for the win.  Ganbol was second at the line followed closely by Tim Brown,  Mike Norris,  Ott Ed Vogel and Bill Kennell.  Norris and Travis Group won the heats</div>
<div> </div>
<div> The 4 Cylinders also provided action in their event.  Promoter Padula elected to let all 31 cars on hand start the feature and they  filled the track.  Mike Lauffer was the early leader and he held off a mob until a wheel flew off on  lap 6.  Casey Fleegle took over but Dan Jackson led the next lap.  On lap 8 tho a grinding crash in turn two stopped things as Andrew Pluta had to be cut from his car.   At that point with the delay involved in accident cleanup and the hour, it was decided to end the event at 8 laps with Jackson the winner.  Fleegle was credited with second, ahead of Nathan Kamisky, Dave Lambert and Robert Pluta.  Andrew Pluta, Robert Pluta and Fleegle won the heats</div>
<div> </div>
<div>LATE MODEL 25 LAP  1  Rick Singleton,  2 Jeff Rine,  3 Jack Pencil,  4 Jerry Bard ,  5 Chad Hollenbeck,  6 Matt Parks,  7 Justin Kann,  8 Greg Fetters,  9 Ron Delano,  10  Eric Zembower,  11 Matt Sponaugle,  12 Cory Weaver,  13 Andy Haus,  14 Masopn Ziegler,  15  Scott Haus,  16 Wayne Johnson,  17 Chuck Clise</div>

Defending track champion Jack Pencil opened the 2012 Bedford  season with a win in the 25 lap Late Model event.  It was a bit of irony for Pencil as  he had been the winner of the last Joe Padula promoted  event at the speedway 12 years ago.  In other action, Brian Lessley survived a wild last lap to score a photo finish win in Limited action,  Bob Jay came from the back to win the Semi Late event, Lou Wannyn won the Pure Stock event and Dan Jackson took the 4 Cylinder finale.</div>

<div id="yiv1930271551yui_3_2_0_19_133502690372440">      Pencil was the big winner in the opening day pill draw start as his 4th place run in his heat rewarded him  with a pole position start,  He jumped ahead of Wayne Johnson at the start and opened up a huge lead over the first 20 green flag laps.   By lap 11 though,  Jeff Rine had moved up to second place and was noticeably closing on Johnson.</div>
<div id="yiv1930271551yui_3_2_0_19_133502690372440"> </div>

<div id="yiv1930271551yui_3_2_0_19_133502690372440">That action resulted in the retirement of Scott Haus and Greg Fetters among others and gave Rine a close up look at the leader.   But on the restart with 5 laps to go, Pencil scooted away to score the win.  Rine was second, followed by Matt Parks, Colby Frye, Johnson, Chuck Clise, Matt Sponaugle, Eric Zembower, Chris Harr and Tom Decker.  Haus and Frye won the heats.<span id="more-543"></span></div>

BEDFORD, PA – Nick Dickson earned his second win of the season and took home $2,000 for his efforts Friday night at the Bedford Speedway.  Tim Smith, Jr. won $1,000 by taking the win in a wild Limited Late Model feature, and Bill Henney won $500 in Street Stock action.  Travis Group won the $300 top prize in the Hobby Stocks, and Robert Pluta pocketed $200 for winning the 4 Cylinder feature event.  The holiday special event was the final point race and the final race of the season. <img title="More..." src="http://bedfordspeedway.com/wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/wordpress/img/trans.gif" alt="" /><span id="more-452"></span></p>
<p>Nick Dickson used a front row starting spot on a very fast racing surface to his advantage in Super Late Model action.  Dickson grabbed the lead on the first lap from pole sitter Greg Fetters, and maintained a blistering pace with Jeremy Miller hot on his trail.  Miller&#8217;s bid for the win ended early though, as a spin in turn three put him to the tail of the field.  Chuck Clise and Coleby Frye both started in the fourth row, and they were Dickson&#8217;s worst threat.  Both Clise and Frye worked their way through the field, but 30 laps wasn&#8217;t enough to put any serious heat on Dickson, and Nick took the checkers and his seventh career Bedford win.  Clise and Frye followed, with Derek Byler taking fourth, and Jeff Miller fifth.  Sixth through tenth went to Fetters, Gene Knaub, Jack Pencil, Dylan Yoder, and Mike Lupfer.  Jeremy Miller and Jack Pencil won the heats.  Dylan Yoder was poised to win his first ever Bedford Track Championship coming into this final event, but mechanical trouble in heat race action put a damper on his title run.  Yoder ran the feature in his father Jim&#8217;s number 27, but Jack Pencil, who followed Yoder by ten points at the beginning of the night, won his heat and finished a spot ahead of Dylan in the feature.  Pencil claimed the Championship by 25 points.  It&#8217;s his sixth points title in the division, and eighth total in all divisions combined (both track records). </p>
<p>Tim Smith, Jr. won his second Limited Late Model feature of the year Friday night from his twelfth starting spot.  Smith used the little used high side to pick cars off on his charge to the front and claimed his 27th career victory ahead of second place Jake Jones, third place Corey Weaver in his best ever Bedford finish, Donnie Farlling and Rance Garlock, who started 18th.  Sixth through tenth went to Robbie Black, Khi Swanger, Travis Calhoun, Josh Berrier, and Travis Stickley.  Jones, Weaver, and DJ Troutman won the heats.  Just like in the Super Late Model division, a young driver was looking for his first ever Bedford Points Championship.  Grant Adams held a forty point lead over Tim Smith coming into Friday&#8217;s events.  Adams gave up five points in heat race action, and only needed to stay within six positions of Smith to claim the title.  Adams used the same high line as Smith in feature action, and was charging to front when something went seriously wrong.  A blown motor sent Adams pitside, and Smith went on to win his fourth Limited Late Model Track Championship at Bedford. </p>
<p>Bill Henney blasted from his ninth starting spot to take the win in the Street Stock division.  Henney was in typical form, running the top side of the speedway in a crowd pleasing manner.  The win was his fourth of the season, and more importantly, the win sealed up his second straight Points Championship.  Henney trailed Brian Duffy by five points prior to this last event, and for the third straight division, the point leader prior to Friday night lost the championship.  Duffy lost the point lead in heat race action, but put in a valiant effort in the feature finishing second to Henney.  It wasn&#8217;t enough though, and Duffy settled for both second in the feature and in points.  Chris Chamberlain advanced twelve spots to finish third in the feature, followed by Bob Jay and Daryl Whetstone.  Paul Gambol and Henney won the heats. </p>
<p>Travis Group won his second feature of the year and third of his career in the Hobby Stocks.  Travis won convincingly over Charlie Walter, Bill Replogle, Terry Norris, and Chad Gambol.  Replogle and Group won the heats.  Second in points, Group earned the most points he could in one event by winning both his heat and feature, but it wasn&#8217;t enough to overtake Charlie Walter who finished second to Group in both the heat and feature.  Charlie&#8217;s Points Championship is his third in the division at Bedford.   </p>
<p>Robert Pluta started ninth and worked through the field to earn his third feature of the season and the Track Championship in 4 Cylinder action.  Following Pluta at the line was Davey Lambert, Dan Jackson, Juan Ryan, and Nick Iski.  Sixth through tenth went to Skip Bryner, Ralph Miller, Troy Imler, Phil Best, and Jeremy Miller.  Jeff Treece, Robert Pluta, and Mike Lauffer won the heats.  The points title was Robert&#8217;s first of his career at Bedford, edging out his twin brother Andrew who finished second in points. </p>

BEDFORD, PA –  Donnie Farlling ran a flawless race Friday night at the Bedford Speedway, winning his first ever Limited Late Model feature event.  The $1,000 to win 25 lap race was part of the Bedford and Cumberland challenge, dubbed the Bedrock shootout.  In other action, Brian Duffy won his fourth race of the season in the Street Stock division, Justin Michael made a rare Bedford visit worthwhile by winning the Hobby Stock feature, and Robert Pluta won his second race of the season in the 4 Cylinders.  Children were given an opportunity to try their luck on the speedway surface during the kid&#8217;s bike races at intermission.</p>
<p>The Limited Late Model feature had Scott Daniels and Donnie Farlling on the front row when they took the green, and Farlling immediately blasted into the lead like a missile.  With division heavy hitters Grant Adams, Matt Sponaugle, Robbie Black, and Tim Smith, Jr. giving chase, it was Farlling&#8217;s night to shine.  Adams slipped into the second spot in the later stages of the race, but couldn&#8217;t reel in Farlling&#8217;s number 48.  Farlling acknowledged the crowd with a fist pump as he took the checkered comfortably over Adams by several car lengths.  Matt Sponaugle finished third, Robbie Black fourth, and Tim Smith, Jr. advanced from his eleventh starting position to post a fifth place finish.  Sixth through tenth went to Travis Stickley, Cory Weaver, Travis Calhoun, Brian Lowery, and Scott Daniels.  Stickley and Adams won the qualifying heats.<span id="more-441"></span></p>
<p>Brian Duffy scored his 24th career Street Stock victory and regained the point lead in the division in a hard fought battle Friday evening.  Duffy held off late race charges from tenth starting Bill Henney to nab the well-earned victory.  Henney settled for second, and was followed to the checkered by Jesse Snyder, Zane Weicht, and Paul Gambol.   Completing the top ten was Kerry Molovich, Bob Jay, Donald Wyles, Bill Pluta, and George Farlling.  Brian Duffy and Bob Jay are once again tied for the most all-time Street Stock feature wins at the speedway.  Duffy and Jay won the heats.</p>
<p>Justin Michael only runs periodically in the Hobby Stock division at Bedford, but he is a strong contender every time he enters the historic fairgrounds.  Justin took advantage of a third starting spot to get to the front early and earn his third career victory at Bedford.  Division point leader Charlie Walter finished second, Travis Group third, Lou Wannyn fourth, and Terry Norris fifth.  Lou Wannyn won the lone heat race.</p>
<p>Robert Pluta charged from his eighth starting spot to score the victory in 4 Cylinder action.  Following Pluta was Davey Lambert, Mike Lauffer, Andrew Pluta, and Nathan Kaminsky.  Sixth through tenth went to Ralph Miller, Troy Imler, Steve Frederick, Juan Ryan, and Jeremy Miller.  Lauffer and Imler won the heats.</p>
<p>The speedway is off next Friday, and will return to action Friday July 29th for the Great Bedford Fair Dick Koontz/Paul Beamer Memorial Fair Race.  For more details, call the speedway office at 814-623-0500, or visit www.bedfordspeedway.com</p>

BEDFORD, PA –  The Three State Flyers Late Model series visited the Bedford Speedway Friday night, and Bedford&#8217;s own Jack Pencil made his hometown proud by picking up the win in the 35 lap main event.  Craig Perigo ended a three year drought with a win in Limited Late Model action, and Bill Henney picked up the win in Street Stock action.  Charlie Walter charged from the back row to win the Hobby Stock feature, and Troy Imler earned his first ever Bedford victory in 4 Cylinder action. The Blackburn Russell Company sponsored the evening&#8217;s racing action. </p>
<p>
Jack Pencil has been building momentum all season at Bedford.  Fresh off a win the last time the Late Models circled Bedford, Pencil&#8217;s front row starting position for Friday&#8217;s Three State Flyer race set him up for a great chance to make it two in a row.  However, Jason Covert, the hottest driver on the series trail was in town and started just one row behind Jack.  Pencil immediately grabbed the lead at the start of the $3,000 to win event with regional standout Jamie Lathroum an Covert hot on his heels.  Lathroum appeared to have a little something for the leader until he brought the yellow out in turn two on the eighth lap.  This put Covert right on Pencil&#8217;s back bumper, with Scott LeBarron and Dylan Yoder following closely behind on the restart.  The fastest way around on this night was the high side, and Covert matched Pencil&#8217;s tire tracks for laps.  Yoder got by LeBarron for third on lap fifteen, but was never really able to pose too much of a threat to the top two.  Covert seemed content on mirroring Pencil for most of the race, but in the final stages he left nothing on the table.  The car on the move was last year&#8217;s track champ Jeff Rine.  Rine started last, and was able to come all the way up and steal the seventh spot from chuck Clise on the final lap.  Pencil was solid up front and repelled any of Covert&#8217;s attempts for the lead, taking the checkered for the 28th time of his career in Super Late Model action at Bedford.  Covert finished a close second, and Yoder came home third a few car lengths back.  LeBarron ended up fourth, and JT Spence fifth.  Rounding out the top ten was Nick Dickson, Rine, Clise, Wayne Johnson, and Jeff Miller.  Pencil won his heat and the dash, and Jamie Lathroum was the other heat race winner.  Former Bedford Regular CS Fitzgerald was on hand for the first time in over ten years.  He crossed the finish line in the eleventh position. <span id="more-434"></span></p>
<p>
Craig Perigo earned his fifth career Limited Late Model Bedford victory, holding off some of the areas best the entire race.  Perigo, who arguably has been in a slump over the past few seasons, has shown steady improvement the past few weeks.  Perigo took the lead on lap one and immediately had to deal with division hotshoe Matt Sponaugle.  Sponaugle&#8217;s bid for lead ended on lap 11 when slowed on the track and went pitside.  During the caution, the leaderboard showed Robbie Black now in second, Grant Adams third, Tim Smith, Jr. fourth, and Eric Irvin fifth.  Similar to the Late Model feature, Perigo ran the high groove and Black followed closely.  Perigo was near flawless, and Black never got the opportunity to take a swipe at the lead.  That&#8217;s the way they would finish, with Perigo on top and Black second.  Tim Smith, Jr. took third away from Grant Adams with five to go and held on till the end, Adams ended up fourth, and Irvin fifth.  Sixth through tenth went to Daniel Cornman, Donnie Farlling, Travis Stickley, Mike Duck, and Corey Weaver.  Adams and Sponaugle won the heats.</p>
<p>
Bill Henney earned his 9th career Bedford Street Stock win and third of the season in unusual fashion.  Race fans are used to seeing Henney&#8217;s number 50 running and passing cars on the cushion.  Henney did use the high side to go from fifth to second on the first lap, but it was a move on the bottom that put him ahead of leader Brian Duffy on lap eight.  Henney maintained a comfortable lead, and Duffy, Jesse Snyder, Bob Jay, and Jerry Robinson followed him to the checkered.  Daryl Whetstone and Jesse Snyder won the heat events.</p>
<p>
Charlie Walter had to work hard to earn his 20th career victory in Hobby Stock action.  A first lap crash sent him pitside for repairs, forcing him to restart last.  Travis Group held the early lead until Rick Potter got by on lap six.  Potter&#8217;s bid for the lead was short lived though, as Walter had already came through the pack.  Potter managed to hold the point for two laps until Walter shot by on lap eight.  With Walter out front, Potter maintained the second position until a spin on the final lap ended his good run.  Dave Riley took him second place honors when they crossed the finish line, with Chad Gambol, Lou Wannyn, and Jarrod Brown completing the top five.  Potter and Group won the heats.</p>
<p>
Troy Imler&#8217;s season started off as bad as one could in the 4 Cylinder division.  In heat race action during week one of the season, Imler flipped multiple times in a violent crash on the backstretch.  In only his second race since then, he battled hard and made a dramatic last lap pass to take his first ever win at Bedford.  Robert Pluta led the first eight laps until his hood flew off on the frontstretch.  The caution was thrown for debris, and Bedford rules state when a caution is thrown for identifiable debris, that car goes to the rear.  Davey Lambert assumed the top spot, but it was Imler making the bold move on the final lap to take the win.  Lambert settled for second, Steve Frederick third, Robert Pluta battled back to take home fourth, and Juan Ryan finished fifth.  Frederick and Mike Lauffer won the heats.</p>

BEDFORD, PA –  The Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek Series made it&#8217;s second stop of the week at Bedford Sunday night and Daryn Pittman took his first ever win at the historic oval.  The evening didn&#8217;t start off the best for Daryn.  After posting the third quickest time of the night on his first lap of time trials, his right front wheel came off in turn three of his second lap, sending his racer into the outside wall before laying over on it&#8217;s side.  The redraw put Pittman on the pole for the feature, and his crew made all the necessary repairs to get him out for race time.  Fred Rahmer set fast time and a new one lap track record during time trials for the 29 car field, as many cars were measured at 135 mph on the backstretch with a hand held radar gun.  Lance Dewease, Curt Stroup, and Keith Kauffman won the qualifying heats, with Sam Hafertepe, Jr. winning the b-main.  <span id="more-427"></span></p>
<p>In the feature, it was all Pittman.  Daryn pulled out to a comfortable lead immediately ahead of Rahmer and Stevie Smith.  Smith blew a tire and retired for the evening on lap 14, putting Jason Johnson in the third slot.  Johnson overtook Rahmer for second with six to go, and Greg Hodnett took fourth from Rahmer on the following lap.  With just four laps to go, Johnson&#8217;s racer slowed bringing out the caution for only the second time of the event.  On the restart, Pittman resumed command with Hodnett on his heels and Rahmer and Brian Leppo battling for the third spot.  At the checkered it was Pittman, Hodnett, Leppo, Rahmer, and Justin Henderson.  Sixth through tenth went to Tyler Walker, Brian Montieth, Davey Sammons, Lance Dewease, and Danny Dietrich. </p>
<p>In 4 Cylinder action, Andrew Pluta and Mike Lauffer battled side by side for much of the race with Pluta leading each lap until the final one.  Mechanical issues slowed Pluta coming out of turn two for the final time and Lauffer took advantage and the win.  Following Lauffer at the line was Phil Best, Pluta, Ronnie Valentine, and Cindy Rhodes.  Pluta and Louis Orris won the heats. </p>

BEDFORD, PA – Hometown hero Jack Pencil returned to Super Late Model victory lane for the first time in nearly a year at the Bedford Speedway Friday night.  Tim Smith, Jr. also won his first of the season in the Limited Late Models.  Bob Jay picked up his second win of the year in Street Stock action, and Charlie Walter earned his third of the season in the Hobby Stocks.  Mike Lauffer won the special $100 to win 4 Cylinder event. </p>
<p>Jack Pencil has been on top of his game each week in Bedford Super Late Model action, but finding victory lane proved to be a tough task until now.  Pencil started on the pole for the 25 lap main event and led every lap.  The racing surface was blistering fast, and although second place running Dylan Yoder could match Pencil&#8217;s speed, he couldn&#8217;t find enough to mount any serious challenges.  Yoder, the division&#8217;s point leader, holds a slim margin over Pencil and Jeff Rine in the point standings.  It was no surprise that with five to go the running order for the top three was Pencil, Yoder, and Jeff Rine.  Rine started 10th on the grid, and worked hard to get to the front.  Shawn Claar held down the third position for most of the race until Rine made his move with five to go.  Unfortunately for Rine, a blown tire with two to go would send him pitside.  At the end Pencil won his 27th career Bedford feature in the division, followed by Yoder, Claar, Jeff Miller, and Wayne Johnson.  Heats went to Miller and Johnson.<span id="more-419"></span></p>
<p>Tim Smith, Jr. won his 26th career Limited Late Model feature from the fourth starting spot.  The win was no surprise, as Smith and Pencil share similar driving styles and often run well on the same nights.  In fact, Friday night was the fifth time that Tim won the Limited Late feature on the same night Jack Pencil won the Super Late event.  Pole sitter Donnie Farlling paced the field for the first five laps before Smith used the high side to power into the lead.  Farlling was able to maintain second place comfortably, leaving Rick Singleton and Matt Sponaugle to battle for the third spot.  Smith won the event with ease, and Farlling settled for second.  Singleton and Sponaugle each enjoyed the third position several times throughout the race, and it was Singleton who owned the spot for the final four circuits.  Sponaugle came home fourth, and DJ Troutman fifth.  Travis Calhoun and Troutman won the heat events.</p>
<p>Bob Jay took home is 24th career Bedford Street Stock trophy, and it wasn&#8217;t easy.  Last week&#8217;s feature winner Bill Henney took the lead on lap one and took off using the high side of the track ahead of Jesse Snyder and Zane Weicht.  Jay slipped by Weicht with five to go, and on the same lap Bill Henney&#8217;s engine soured.  Henney faded through the pack until miraculously the problem went away.  By lap 8 Henney was back up to third and the race was on at the front.  Snyder held the top spot as Bob Jay blanketed the rear of his racer from every angle.  Snyder gave up the top spot on lap 13, and on the same lap he lost second to Henney.  Jay managed to keep Bill Henney at bay to hang on for the win.  Henney accepted second, and Brian Duffy slipped by Snyder on the last lap for third.  Donald Wyles completed the top five.  Heats went to Jay and Henney.</p>
<p>Charlie Walter started sixth in the Hobby Stock feature event, was in third by lap one, and was in the lead by the third lap.  Team cars Rick Potter and Lou Wannyn held the top two positions from the drop of the green until the duo became entangled in turn two during the third lap.  Both drivers were able to continue, although the caution was a lengthy one as track crews attempted to unhook the cars from each other.  Charlie Walter assumed the lead when racing resumed and never looked back, earning his 18th career victory, and third of the season.  Chad Gambol finished second, and Wannyn, Terry Norris, and Travis Group completed the top five.  Rick Potter won the lone heat event.</p>
<p>Mike Lauffer took the lead on lap two on his way to earning his 14th career victory in 4 Cylinder action.  Dacron Powell finished second, Robert Pluta third, Jeremy Miller fourth, and Louis Orris fifth.  Lauffer and Juan Ryan won the heats. </p>
<p>The speedway is off next Friday, and will return to action Sunday night, June 26th when the Pennsylvania Posse 410 Sprintcars invade Bedford Speedway.  It&#8217;s the best of both worlds, as the Super Late Models will also be on hand for the yearly event.  The raindate is Monday, June 27th.  Call the speedway office at 814-623-0500, or visit www.bedfordspeedway.com for more details.</p>
