While winter continues to descend on Western Pennsylvania, Bedford Speedway is preparing for the 2017 racing season. Speedway officials have released the schedule for the new year of racing which will feature 29 nights of racing action.
The big fairgrounds track, which first featured racing in 1936, will commence on track activity on Sunday afternoon April 2nd with the annual car show held at the track in conjunction with the Bedford Home & Garden Show.
Immediately following the car show will be a test and tune session open to all racers. Opening Day will officially kick off the 2017 racing season the following week on Friday April 7th.
Friday night racing continues throughout the summer, every week until September, concluding with the sixth annual Bedford Fall Fest during the final weekend of September.
Bedford fans can look forward to the usual array of upbeat and fun promotions next season. Parents are reminded that kids 12 and under are always free at Bedford and can look forward to the kids bike races and two frontstretch candy tosses during the year. There will also be a special “Kids Night” in June featuring games, giveaways and prizes, as well as kid’s car rides before the races.
The next event on the Bedford schedule will be the Annual Awards Banquet, honoring our racers for a fantastic race season. The Banquet will be on Saturday night, January 28th 2017 at the Bedford Elks Ballroom, located one mile south of Bedford on Business Route 220. Receiving awards will be the top ten in LM, LMS, SL, M, PS & 4C points. Doors will open at 5:30, with dinner being served at 6:30. Dinner will be followed by the awards presentation and then dancing and music provided by our DJ. Tickets are $37.00 per person and must be ordered in advance, as space is extremely limited. To order tickets please send a check made out to “B.A.C. Inc.” to the speedway office.
Moving forward to next year, many plans are in the works to continue to provide our fans and racers with a fantastic racing experience.
Tailgate Spots around the track and grandstand reserved seats for the 2017 racing season are on sale now. Those wishing to renew the same spot that they had in previous years, at the same price, may now do so. Spots will be reserved for their previous year’s owners until February 1st, 2017, at which time all remaining unsold spots will go on sale to the general public. Fans wishing to reserve their spot/seat from previous years please send a check made out to “B.A.C. Inc.” to PO Box 263, Bedford PA 15522. A limited amount of parking spots on the backstretch at the exit of turn two will be available for sale this year, for fans interested in reserving a new spot.
