Keystone Cup Qualifying Races & Ticket Special

May 7th, 2019

The largest race in Bedford Speedway history returns this season on September 27th & September 28th 2019. The winner of the Bedford Keystone Cup will take home a minimum of $15,000. The Keystone Cup will pay $1000 to take the green out of an A-main purse of over $54,000

In last year’s inaugural running of the Keystone Cup, it was Bedford Champion Jeff Rine taking home the top prize, coming from 10th starting position to take the win.

The Late Model portion of the event will feature Friday night qualifying, semi features and a dash for the top qualifiers. There will be a minimum of two, and as many as four semi features depending on car counts. The 16 lap semi features will each pay $500 to win and $100 to start. Saturday night will be Late Model B-Mains followed by the 60 lap, $15,000 to win main event.

As is Bedford policy there will be no entry fees for any driver. Special awards will also be given to the overall fast timer, pole winner, semi feature winners and A-feature hard charger.

The two day show will feature Late Models in action on both Friday and Saturday. They will be joined by a complete show for the Semi Lates and Pure Stocks on Friday, and a complete show for the Late Model Sportsman and Modifieds on Saturday.

Advanced tickets and reserved seats for the Keystone Cup are currently on sale. All advance tickets purchased prior to September 15th will be available for $40, a discount of $5.00 from their list price. Reserved grandstand seats are also available for pre order.

Bedford has again partnered with several of the area speedways for a series of qualifying events. The winner of each of the qualifiers will be guaranteed a starting spot in the Keystone Cup. Throughout the 2019 Late Model season, drivers at six area tracks will have the chance to earn a spot in the big show. With the Qualifying races, the Keystone Cup will potentially have 28 cars taking the green flag.

As at all Bedford races the first guaranteed starting spot in the field (25th position) is reserved for the high Bedford point driver who fails to make the field through qualifications.

The overall champion of the KRS Graphics Late Model Challenge Series will be receiving a guaranteed starting spot in the big show at Bedford. This bonus is in addition to the point fund the series drivers will earn. The series begins at Bedford on May 31st, before moving to Port Royal June 1st, then concluding at Williams Grove and Selinsgrove the following weekend.

Delaware’s Georgetown Speedway will host the second Keystone Cup Qualifier on June 28th. The Late Model winner that night will be assured of a starting position in the Bedford field. Georgetown is a big, fast half mile, well known for great racing. The Late Models will be racing for $3500 to win at the Georgetown Qualifier.

The final guaranteed qualifier will come from the Fabulous Lincoln Speedway. For the first time in several years Lincoln will be hosting Super Late Models on Saturday September 14th for a $3000 to win event. While Lincoln is famous for its great Sprint Car racing, the Late Models have a rich history at the track. Their Late Model show is one of the must see events of the summer in the area.

The eligible drivers are guaranteed at least a starting spot in the Keystone Cup field and can improve their position through Friday night qualifying. To take advantage of their spot in the show, drivers must make an attempt at time trials and start their Friday night qualifier.

Ample free camping for the weekend is available, and no reservations are needed to set up. Camping with a water & electric hookup is $50 for the weekend, and reservations for hook ups are preferred as there are a limited number available.

Bedford Speedway hosted its first auto race on September 5th 1936, with Depression-era star Billy Winn taking the win. Over the past 83 years the track has hosted some of the greatest names in racing history. The speedway is located at the intersection of I-99 & US 30, with easy access from PA Turnpike exit 146, just blocks from beautiful downtown Bedford, PA.
