Once again defying dire weather forecasts Bedford managed to complete the program Friday night. Denver Dishong took the headline Charlie Walter Memorial Pure Stock event which was actually shortened by a shower. After a brief rain delay, Taylor Farlling took the Limited event while Timmy Bittner rallied late to win the 305 feature. Jason Diehl then closed the evening with his first ever 4 Cylinder success,
In the most prestigious Pure Stock event of the season, Denver Dishong grabbed the early lead from his front row starting spot. Several minor cautions dotted the early laps but Dishong held on with what became a 5 car pack at the front.
Derek Long ran second early but Charlie Clise snuck through for that spot on lap 10. Clise immediately took aim at Dishong, several times getting alongside but Dishong doggedly hung on. Lap after lap the top two went at it while the other three battled for third but things changed on lap 26 as a hard shower hit the track.
The yellow flag went out followed by the red, and since the shower was hard enough to destroy the track surface the event was checkered flagged with Dishong the happy winner. Clise, Chubby Childers and Long took the next spots. Dishong and Childers won the heats.
During the Victory Lane festivities the shower suddenly abated and the decision was made to try to reclaim the surface. After a lengthy delay the track was ready and the program was continued.
After the delay Taylot Farlling took the early Limited lead chased by Clinton Hersh and Gunner Walls. Walls squeeked by for second on lap 6 and began to challenge Farlling for the lead as the pack battled behind them.
When the last ten laps went all green the lead pair pulled away from the field but Walls was unable to wrest the lead from the happy Farlling and settled for second at the line. Devin Weyandt came from deep in the field with a series of exciting moves to take third at the line, ahead of Lane Snook and Shawn Shoemaker. Walls and Snook won the heats.
The 305 event went all green and Josh Spicher took the early lead. Colton Hendershot chased Spicer but Timmy Bittner was coming from the pack quickly. Soon it was a three car battle at the front as Bittner injected himself into the lead battle, He took second on lap 14 and pounced on Spicer. Two laps later he shot by Spicer and held on for his first ever Bedford win.
Hendershot grabbed second with two laps to go, finishing there ahead of Ken Duke and Spicer who fell to fourth. Hendershot and Bittner won the heats.
The 4 Cylinder event was a mob scene as 6 cars battled early for the lead, Pole sitter Jasson Diehl had grabbed the lead at the start and held off all the challengers for the duration to claim his first ever win. Tom Brady took second at the line ahead of Tyler Beckett and Todd Price. The final rundown was jumbled a bit when two of the original top 5 refused a tech line look. Beckett and Wayne Brenize won the heats.
