FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Charlie Walter Jr. – Three Consecutive Wins!
By Laura Cornman
BEDFORD, PA –
After an unfortunate two week break due to weather conditions, a sum of one hundred and fifteen cars filled the pit area. The long awaited kids car rides kicked off the evening. A special thanks goes out to all the drivers who participated – the kids loved it!
Twenty six Super Late Models entered the action - packed feature event. Side by side racing quickly changed to single file. Jeff Miller led the heard to the plummet of the green flag. Scott Haus, with a hunger to win, took over the lead on lap seven. With ten laps in the book, the caution flag was thrown due to an accident in turn three. DJ Myers fought his way through the heard and moved into the second position. Haus continued to lengthen his lead against the rest of the field. As the laps dwindled, Myers simply ran out of time. Haus's hunger for a win led his number seventy-six Chevrolet straight into victory lane!
Travis Group held the desired pole position on the start of the Cruiser Hobby Stock division feature. Several cautions were brought out within the first few laps. Ryan Beckett and Charlie Walter battled for the second position. Group stayed strong and continued to hold the lead. Charlie Walter Jr. took command coming out of turn four with ten laps to go. Group strongly held the second position while fighting Walter Jr. for the lead. With six laps to go Beckett avoided hard collision with the inside wall; instead he gently kissed it. Once back to green flag racing, the caution flag was brought out by Tyler Ritchey who spun in turn three. Walter Jr. drove hard to keep his position. Group continued to battle Walter Jr. until the plunge of the checkered flag.
Mike Duck led the pack of twenty six limited late models to the cone. Before a full lap was turned, almost half the field became tangled between turns one and two. Fortunately, everyone was able to drive away from the caution. Every position throughout the field was fought hard for. Duck continued to lead the race with Daniel Cornman trailing closely behind. With six laps in the books, the caution was brought out. Several more cautions quickly followed. Duck continued to show the way. Brian Lowery made his way through the pack and took over the third position. Lowery ran the high groove, passed Cornman and battled Duck for the lead. Lowery took over with five laps to go. Lowery’s position was solidified as he drove into victory lane.
Chris Chamberlain held the pole position at the start of the street stock division feature. Jim Saylor quickly took command. With three laps in the book, a caution occurred in turn four. The green flag action quickly began as Brian Duffy battled Chamberlain for the second place position. The action continued as Bob Jay and Daryl Whetstone raced hard. Saylor continued to sit comfortably out front. With two laps to go, Chamberlain lost control and hit the inside wall of the front stretch. Saylor successfully drove his black number ninety-six into victory lane.
Mike Luffer started on the pole and continued to lead. Luffer quickly drove off with the lead. Heavy racing took place throughout the middle of the pack. Luffer was victorious.
Alan Sagi, Scott Haus, and DJ Troutman were all triumphant in the Bedford Valley Petroleum Super Late Model division heat races. Winners of the Ritchey’s Sandblasting Cruiser Hobby Stock division heat races were Charlie Walters Jr. and Ryan Beckett. Mike Duck, Daniel Cornman, and Mike Shoemaker all prevailed during the Miller Auto Parts Limited Late Model division heat races. Chris Chamberlain and Brian Duffy were victorious during the TC Race Car Street Stock division heat races. Bill Noll and Mike Luffer claimed victories during the Thomas Chevrolet 4-Cylinder division heat races.
