Speedway releases 2015 Schedule; Opening Day Friday April 10th

December 17th, 2014

While winter continues to descend on Western Pennsylvania, Bedford Speedway is preparing for the 2015 racing season. The big Fairgrounds track, which first featured racing in 1936, has 29 events on the schedule for next year. On track activity will commence on Saturday afternoon March 28th with a test and tune session open to all divisions, a second session will be held the following week on April 4th.  Opening Day will officially kick off on the 2015 racing season on Friday evening April 10th.

Friday night racing continues throughout the summer, every week until September, with the occasional Sunday and holiday shows also on the schedule. As is tradition the Super Late Models will continue to headline Bedford racing, with a strong weekly program being augmented by several special events. The Three State Flyers Late Model Series makes appearances on each summer holiday. These commence with the “Johnny Grum Tribute” on Friday May 22nd followed by the “Milt Miller Tribute” on Friday July 3rd. Both of these 40 lap events will pay $4000.00 to win. The final Three State Flyers appearance of the season will be the 28th Annual “Labor Day Classic”, on Friday night, September 4th. The Late Model 55 lapper will feature an increased purse over last year with the winner taking home $6055.00. In addition, the seventh annual Appalachian Mountain Speedweek will open its weeklong series at Bedford on Friday night May 29th.

Also on the exciting Bedford slate in 2015 will be the Late Model Sportsman, Semi Lates, Modifieds, Pure Stocks and Four Cylinders weekly. The schedule includes a variety of special events for these Bedford divisions, rewarding them for their fantastic support and tremendous racing. In addition, appearances at Bedford will be made by the Laurel Highlands Racesaver Sprints, All American Outlaws, Penn- Mar Vintage cars and the classic racers of the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing.

Open wheel fans will be pleased with the two appearances of the Renegade 410 Sprints on April 19th and June 7th. Both of these shows will be $5000.00 to win featuring the best 410 Sprints from the PA Posse alongside the stars of the Western PA / Ohio tour. With last year’s event being lost to rain, this will mark the first 410 Sprint show in Bedford since Mike Wagner claimed the victory in August 2013. The “side by side and three wide” delight of the ARDC Midgets will also be at Bedford this year, making their appearance on June 19th. After receiving fantastic support last season, the Laurel Highlands Racesaver Sprints will be making nine 2015 appearances.

Bedford fans can look forward to the usual array of upbeat promotions next season. The wildly popular $5.00 fan appreciation night and fireworks will be in early August followed two weeks later by “Ladies Night”, where all women receive free admission to the grandstands. Flowers will be distributed to the Moms on Mother’s Day weekend; and a driver appreciation night is planned for June. Parents are reminded that kids 12 and under are always free at Bedford and can look forward to two bike races and two frontstretch candy tosses during the year. There will also be a special “Kids Night” in June featuring games, giveaways and prizes, as well as kid’s car rides before the races.

The season will conclude with the Fourth Annual Bedford Fall Fest during the weekend of September 18th & 19th.

The next event on the Bedford schedule will be the Annual Awards Banquet, honoring our racers for a fantastic race season. The Banquet will be on Friday night, January 30th, 2015 at the Bedford Elks Ballroom, located one mile south of Bedford on Business Route 220. Receiving awards will be the top ten in LM, LMS, SL, PS & 4C points, as well as the top five in modified points. Doors will open at 5:30, with dinner being served at 6:30. Dinner will be followed by the awards presentation and then dancing and music provided by our DJ. Tickets are $37.00 per person and must be ordered in advance, as space is extremely limited.
