CHILDERS AND BRENIZE GRAB BEDFORD FALLFEST WINS

September 22nd, 2024

The annual Bedford fallfest  weekend, the Troutman memorial, opened Thursday night with 2024  consistent winners Chubby Childers and Wayne Brenize  capturing wins.   Childers took the Pure Stock event and Brenize was the 4 Cylinder winner.  Also on the program was a one off visit of Crown Vics won by Josh Ringer.

Chubby Childers was the Pure Stock pole sitter after post season pill draws    After having won several events this season from deep in the pack starts as a high point man, Childers made the most of his good luck.

Childers took the lead at the start and led the distance.    Childers quickly was chased by Dalton Weyant and Denver Dishong but he gamely held on to lead every lap.   Dishong finally got by Weyant, who retired a few laps later, and he chased Childers for the remaining distance but could not prevail.

The event was interrupted  rather spectacularly with a few laps to go as Brad Boyd had a malfunction and his car burst into flames under the flag stand.  The fire was quickly extinguished and Childers held off Dishong the remaining laps for the win.  Charlie Clise, Braydale Bauman and Mark Shope completed the top 5.   Weyant and Dishong won the heats.

Shawn Smith led the early 4 Cylinder laps hounded by Isaac Kormanski.   Wayne Brenize charged from deep in the pack to join the lead duo but Smith hung on lap after lap.   Things radically changed after halfway as Smith’s car suddenly faltered on the back stretch.  In the moment, Kormanski dove to the left to get by and Brenize went to the right.

With that dramatic move, Brenize took the lead and then held off Kormanski for the win.  Tom Brady, Todd Price and Darren Howsare trailed.   Brenize and Smith won the heats.

Twenty four Crown Vics  arrived  for their first ever appearance, most driven by people making their first ever Bedford starts and it showed.   It took three tries to get the field underway and seven more  cautions and two red flags dotted the 15 lap event.

During the chaos, Josh Ringer took the lead early and then led EMod driver David Stremme to the finish.  Michael Beluvia and Carter Krause trailed.    Quinten Breman and Brady Chobal won the heats.
