After a mid race charge, Kasey Weaver took the Ritchey Memorial trophy in 305 Sprint action at Bedford Sunday night. In fitting irony, he took the win wearing a Ritchey tribute top wing bearing the traditional 880 number on his car. In other action on the program, Dalton Ritchey took the Pure Stock win and Brandon Hoover closed the evening with the EMod win.
It took two tries to get the 305 event underway as Robby Bartchey hit the turn one wall on the first attempt. On the green, pole sitter Dylan Shatzer led the first 305 lap before Brent Shearer slipped by. Fourth starting Kasey Weaver got by Shatzer for second on lap 6 and the chase was on as the event ran off all green flag laps.
The chase didn’t last long as Weaver got by three laps later for the lead. While Shearer ran second, he was eventually joined by Christian Rumsey who arrived from the pack. While Weaver ran off for the comfortable win, Shearer wrestled with Rumsey for the duration before claiming second at the line. Rumsey settled for third ahead of Shatzer and Logan Spahr. Timmy Bittner, an early race retiree, John Braim and John Scarborough won the heats.
Dalton Ritchey led the Pure Stock feature from the pole but he was joined at the front almost from the start by Braydale Bauman. Bauman tried lap after lap to get around Ritchey but was thwarted at every attempt. As they battled, first Chubby Childers and later Denver Dishong caught them and joined in the battle.
Lap after lap the four cars battled together and the tension mounted. On the last lap everyone showed their hand as Ritchey held on and the top 4 crossed the line in two by two formation. Ritchey took the win as Childers held off Dishong by a nose and Brock Bunn grabbed fifth. Childers and Bunn won the heats.
When scheduled pole sitter TJ Dehaven failed to answer the bell, Bryce Broadwater got the pole and led the EMod group to the green, taking the early lead. Brandon Hoover tracked him down and boomed by for the lead on lap 7, Before long Broadwater was under attack from Jacob Marker before Marker got by on lap 14.
Once in second, Marker closed slightly on the leader but Hoover had a large lead and romped on for the win. Marker took second ahead of Broadwater, David Green and Beau Aikey.
