SATTERLEE TAKES THE $20,000 HOME FROM BEDFORD

October 25th, 2020

The 2020 season came to a close Saturday at Bedford Speedway with a bang as Gregg Satterlee rallied late to take home the big check. The $20,000 check and huge purse was the largest ever offered at the track.

In other action, Jonathan Taylor bested a field of 31 EMods and Greg Moore borrowed yet another car to take the Limited victory

Although much pre race talk centered on pole sitter Darrell Lanigan, it was Mason Zeigler who shot by to lead the first Late Model lap. Jason Miller, who banked off the wall at the drop of the green brought out the first caution on lap 1. Three more quick cautions flew in the first 10 laps before the field settled down

Zeigler continued to lead the even almost effortlessly as Lanigan, Satterlee and Mike Norris lurked. But as the event neared halfway, the group of chasers began to close together and included Tim McCreadie who joined in.

Satterlee got by Lanigan for third on lap 32 and set out after Zeigler. Slowly at first but then suddenly noticeable, Satterlee closed on Zeigler. On lap 40 Satterlee struck and flew by for the lead. With his car getting stronger each lap. Satterlee ran off to win by over 4 seconds.

Zeigler held off Lanigan for second, followed by McCreadie and Norris.
In Friday qualifying action, Zeigler and Lanigan win the semi features, and Lanigan won the dash. In Saturday action, Jon Lee won the last chance B feature. 2020 point champion Jeff Rine was the provisional 25th place starter after a blown motor on Friday.

The Saturday B main action was highlighted with a rarity as a Late Model driven mt Tyler Ritchey catapulted over the 4th turn fence and left the track. Ritchey was uninjured.

Greg Spike Moore jumped into his third or fourth car of the season and scored the Limited event win. He went pole to pole after shooting by Robby Black at the start. Moore then dominated the event which ran off pretty much caution free to score the win over Ryan Sager, Black, Devin Weyandt and Brian Lowery.Sager and Moore won the heats.

Jonathan Taylor went pole to pole in the season finale EMod event. He held off Mike Altobelli Sr at first, then Mitch Thomas and eventually Mike Altobelli Jr for the win. Altobelli Jr, Troy Johnson, Evan Taylor and and Thomas trailed. Thomas, Altobelli J, Ray Kable II won the heats, Travis Cottle won the consi.
