140th Great Bedford Fair this week.

July 19th, 2013

A great tradition returns to the Fairgrounds this week as the annual celebration of the Bedford Fair commences this Sunday. We welcome you to come enjoy the family friendly fun of the fair all week long.

Entertainment begins with Sundays fair opener, highlighted by the USA-East Truck & Tractor Pull show at 3pm. Pulls will take place on the Bedford frontstretch. Monday is family day at the fair with $5.00 admission. The highlight of Monday and Tuesday at the fair will be the harness racing on the famous clay oval. Racing begins at 11AM both days and marks the first time in 20 years that the horses have raced at the speedway. Each day the harness racing will have a six event card. Tuesday night will be the 6 cylinder car and pickup truck demolition derby. Wednesday Dave Martin’s “Bullride Mania” will be the featured attraction on the Bedford frontstretch. Demolition derby’s on Thursday and Saturday evening will bookend a Fast Friday evening racing program.
Racing at the Bedford fair has a long and stored history, dating back decades. The Friday night Fair Sweepstakes event is considered by many to the be the biggest event of the year. The atmosphere of the fair, the packed house, and the history make the annual Fair race something truly special.
As in years past the Fair race is dedicated to the memory of Dick Koontz and Paul Beamer. Both are former members of the Bedford County Agricultural Society and longtime supporters of racing in Bedford.
