Bedford Milt Miller Tribute washed out twice; Doubleheader set for this weekend; Modifieds added to Sunday Show

July 7th, 2013

Mother Nature was not a race fan this weekend at the Bedford Speedway. Rain showers washed out both attempts to run the Milt Miller Tribute Three State Flyers Late Model event Friday night and again on the Sunday evening raindate.

The Miller Tribute will resume this Sunday July 14th setting up a double header weekend with the originally scheduled racing program on Friday evening July 12th. The TSF Late Models will be competing in a 35 lap main with $3000 going to the winner. Also racing that night will be the Semi Lates, Modifieds, Pure Stocks and Four Cylinders.

At the time rain showers hit the speedway Friday night three of the four TSF heats had been completed for the 33 Late Models in attendance. Heat wins went to Trevor Feathers, Kenny Pettyjohn and Matt Parks, with the fourth heat next to take the track. Jason Covert is scheduled to start the B-main from the pole position. In order to be fair to those who were in attendance on Friday and qualified, racing action will resume at the point in the show where it was stopped for the rain, meaning Sunday’s program will continue with the fourth heat. Any drivers who were not in attendance on Friday are welcome to join the field on Sunday by tagging on the rear of the B-main. Provisions will be made to ensure that everyone has a fair attempt at making the show.

The 22 Semi Lates in attendance completed their three heats before the show was halted. Their feature lineup is set for Sunday night; any new drivers wishing to join the field are welcome to tag the tail for the feature. Heat wins went to Dave Whetstone, Jim Isner and Tom Warren.

The Pure Stocks, Four Cylinders and Modifieds will also be in action Sunday night. Any drivers who were not at the track on Friday are welcome to join the field in each of these divisions.

Just a reminder per Bedford Speedway raincheck policy, rainchecks are good for ANY 2013 race, with the exception of the Bedford Fair race on July 26th.  This means fans that can’t make this weekend’s makeup show still have the rest of the season in which to use their rainchecks.

Friday night July 12th, the speedway will kick off the double header weekend with a Fast Friday racing program featuring Late Models, Late Model Sportsman, Semi Lates, Modifieds, Pure Stocks and Four Cylinders. In addition the annual kids bike race will be held, giving any kids 12 and under the opportunity to race their bicycles around the famous clay oval. Friday night gates open at 5:00, with warmups at 7:00 and racing at 7:30. General admission will be $12, kids 12 and under free and pit admission will be $28.

Racing will resume on Sunday July 14th, gates open at 4:00, warmups will be at 6:00 and racing begins at 6:30. General admission for the show is $18, kids 12 and under are free and pit admission is $28.
