2016…

October 16th, 2015

With the 2015 Bedford Speedway racing season in the books, work begins preparing for the 2016 racing season. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported racing at the Bedford Speedway this year. The positive response from racers and fans throughout the season has been absolutely amazing, and it is very much appreciated. We would also like to send a special thank you to the Bedford County Agricultural Society for providing us with a fantastic facility to race at. While rain and the threat of rain was a constant menace this season, Bedford completed 23 races this year, the most in 20 years at the track.

Moving forward to next year, many plans are in the works to continue to provide our fans and racers with a fantastic racing experience.

Tickets are currently on sale for the Annual Bedford Awards Banquet. The banquet will be held on Saturday night, January 30th 2016 at the Bedford Elks Ballroom. Awards will be distributed to the top ten in points in the Late Models, LM Sportsman, Semi Lates, Modifieds, Pure Stocks and Four Cylinders. Tickets are $36.00 per person and must be ordered from the speedway office in advance, the banquet is always a sellout and no tickets are sold at the door.

The new season is tentatively scheduled to kick off with the annual pre-season car show on Sunday April 3rd held in conjunction with the Bedford Home Show followed immediately after by a test and tune session open to all racers. Opening Day will be the following weekend, on Sunday night April 10th. Friday night racing will commence the following weekend, continuing until September. The new schedule has 26 races on it, concluding at the end of September with the annual Fall Fest.

The Super Late Models will headline the Bedford weekly race schedule, augmented by several special events on each summer holiday. The speedway will again host the opening event on the 8th Annual Appalachian Mountain Late Model Speedweek Tour. The Late Model weekly purse will be getting an increase this year with spots from the middle on back getting a raise. The weekly 25 lap Late Model feature purse will now be $200 to take the green.

The Bedford modified division continued its growth in 2015, with great racing and very respectable car counts. Modifieds can look forward to an increase in race dates, increased laps and increased purse in 2016. The development of the modifieds at Bedford is a long term project and each year the division has grown since we introduced it in 2013. The modifieds will be a featured attraction at Bedford for many years to come.

The Semi Lates, Pure Stocks and Four Cylinders can also look forward to increased purses on their regular shows as well as some longer distance races being scattered throughout the season.

The Late Models, Modifieds, Semi Lates, Pure Stocks and Four Cylinders will each have approximately 20 events on the Bedford schedule next year. The Late Model Sportsman and the Racesaver Sprints will each be featured on a part time basis next year.

The All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars will return to Bedford twice in 2016. This past season, after losing the April event to rain, Greg Hodnett won the June event holding off Danny Dietrich in a thriller. Open wheel fans will also be pleased with the return of the URC 360 Sprints, ARDC Midgets, as well as occasional visits from the Racesaver 305 Sprints.

Popular Bedford fan events such as $5.00 admission night, free ladies night, fireworks, kids bicycle races, kids car rides, and candy tosses will be spread throughout the season.

Look for more exciting news about 2016 to be released in the coming weeks as some special things are being worked on for next season.

The completed 2016 race schedule will be posted on this website in December.

Rules for each our divisions are currently being evaluated and will be posted on this website in early November. Racers should not expect any serious changes to the regulations.

Thanks for a great race season and have a wonderful winter everyone!
