Spike Moore made a clean sweep at Friday night’s Charlie Walter Tribute event at the Bedford Speedway. The event featured 42 laps for the Pure Stock division in honor of Walter’s infamous green and black #42 machine. Denver Dishong was the victor in the Pure Stock division, Cole Dewease won the Laurel Highlands 305 Sprint event, and Brandon Bowman won the Crown Vic feature.
The Late Model Sportsman took to the track and wasted no time getting the action started. Spike Moore may have gotten the lead but the tenacious field behind him had no intention of making it easy on him. Quickly Brad Benton and Taylor Farlling gave chase to Moore. Brian Booze, originally starting 6th, found his way to fourth within two laps of the green flag then aggressively slid by Taylor Farlling on lap three and in the same breath overtook Benton for second. Kyle Lee, originally starting 8th, also fought his way to the front of the pack early in the race. Booze got too high going down the front stretch and Lee thought he was golden as he slipped by momentarily. A caution came out after Taylor Farlling took a brief ride on the turn 1 wall. Lee’s earlier move came back to bite him when he went a hair too high and allowed Gunnar Walls and Brian Booze to slip by putting him back into fourth. Lee didn’t give up and chased the pair down with the few remaining laps, managing to overtake Walls on the last lap and came down the front stretch side by side with Booze, claiming second place behind Spike Moore. Moore and Lee were followed by Brian Booze, Gunnar Walls, and Shawn Shoemaker.
Late Model Sportsman heat race winners: Taylor Farlling and Devin Weyandt.
The Laurel Highland 305 Sprints visited the speedway on Friday as well. Cole Dewease led the field taking the checkered flag in the 20-lap event. Dewease was followed by Kolby Weaver, Dylan Shatzer, Kasey Weaver and Colton Hendershot.
Laurel Highlands 305 Sprint heat race winners: Dylan Shatzer and Kolby Weaver.
The Pure Stocks faced a 42-lap challenge as they took to the track. Early on Charlie Clise had a promising run but it was cut short only a few laps into the feature as he pulled into the pits. The dust flew on the restart following a brief caution and Denver Dishong took the lead but Shawn Wyles was right on his tail. Behind the pair Rick Potter and Dominic Weyandt were battling hard for third place. Braydale Bauman joined the front of the pack and began putting in some work on Shawn Wyles, but Wyles gave it right back. The race hit the halfway mark, and Bauman finally got an opportunity to pass when Wyles swung out just enough to let him slip by. Denver Dishong held on to his lead with everything he had but Bauman was relentless, taking every inch Dishong left him on the bottom. Bauman passed Dishong for the lead, but Dishong refused to admit defeat and chased him hard for the rest of the race. Ultimately Dishong was the victor of the 42-lap event. Dishong was followed by Wyles, Jay Talley, Alex Mock, and Brittany Beach.
Pure Stock heat race winners: Charlie Clise and Braydale Bauman.
The Crown Vics rounded out the show Friday night. Brandon Bowman took home his first 2026 Bedford Speedway victory after controlling the field for the 12-lap feature. Behind Bowman was Allen Harding, Byler Aikey, Braxton Beckett, and Anthony Troutman.
Crown Vic heat race winners: Brandon Bowman.
