The Bedford Speedway completed its 14th race of the 2026 racing season on Friday. The speedway kicked off the holiday weekend with dollar hot dogs and even hotter weather, but a little heat wasn’t enough to keep the competition away. The night belonged to Spike Moore as he celebrated his first Late Model victory, still riding high after his recent win in his Limited Late Model on June 19th at Bedford. Rick Potter took home his first 2026 win in the Semi Lates. Braydale Bauman achieved his third win this season in the Pure Stock division. Jason Diehl also picked up his third victory of the season in the 4-Cylinder division.
It took the Late Models three tries to get a clean start on their feature event but once the green flew Spike Moore stopped teasing the field and finally let loose. Jeff Miller and JT Spence were determined not to let him get away but they fell into their own battle for second place within a few laps. Spence took a chance on lap 9 to slide by on the inside of Miller in turn one but Miller shot down the back stretch before Spence could seal the deal. Three laps later Shawn Shoemaker overtook Spence and arrived to challenge Miller passing him for second place going down the front stretch. Miller and Spence fell into a rougher version of their previous dance now racing each other for third place. A slight brush with the turn one wall for Trever Feathers brought out a late caution. JT Spence and Shawn Shoemaker caught a brief glimpse of Spike Moore as the field took the green, but they were no match for Moore as he took off once more not slowing down until he saw the checkered flag on lap 25. Moore earned his first Late Model victory followed by JT Spence, Shawn Shoemaker, Justin Weaver, and Matt Sponaugle.

When the green dropped for the Semi Late feature Chubby Childers wasted no time flying from his fourth place starting spot to second on the first lap. He readied himself to take on Rick Potter at the head of the field just as an early caution was called. Potter tried to take off once more after the race resumed but Childers was hot on his tail. Behind them Cornell, Weyant and Jarvie jostled each other around vying for the third-place spot. With five to go Childers dropped from the field leaving Kyle Weyant in second and Cornell in third to contend with Potter for first. Weyant gave it his best, but Potter was in a different league. Rick Potter took the checkered flag picking up his first win of the season. Kyle Weyant was second followed by Brian Weyandt Jr, Garrett Keifer and Nick Bechtel.

Braydale Bauman picked up his third win this season in the Pure Stocks. Bauman’s main challenger was Charlie Clise, originally starting seventh, who surged his way to second in four laps. Jay Talley started second and held on as long as he could to fight off Clise as he rose through the field, the pair drag-raced down the front stretch with Talley holding strong until Clise got the best of him on the inside in the first turn. As Clise turned his attention to Bauman, Talley began a new fight against Shawn Wyles for third. Clise was on top of Bauman as the laps counted down, finally getting by with one lap to go. Bauman wasn’t done though, the pair were neck and neck coming to the finish line, but Bauman managed to get his nose out front and took the checkered flag to finish the race. Clise came in second followed by Derek Long, Madison Miller and Denver Dishong.
Jason Diehl started 8th in the 4-Cylinder event having won the most recent 4-Cylinder race on June 5th. Diehl must have decided two wins in 2026 wasn’t enough for him and decided to go for a hat-trick. However, Dominick Heeter wasn’t too keen on handing over the lead that easily. Heeter, having started second, traded the lead with Diehl twice throughout the 12-lap event, but wasn’t able to hold him off on the final lap. Diehl was followed across the finish line by Dominick Heeter, Tom Brady, Isaac Kormanski and Josh Corbin.
