Bedford Off Season News & Notes

The Annual Bedford Speedway Awards Banquet will be held on Saturday night, January 25, 2020 at the Bedford Elks Ballroom. Awards will be distributed to the top ten in 2019 points standings in the Late Model, Late Model Sportsman, Semi Lates, Modifieds, Pure Stock & Four Cylinder divisions. Drivers must be in attendance or make prior arrangements to pick up awards. Tickets are $37 per person and must be ordered in advance by contacting the speedway office. The banquet is always a sellout and no tickets are sold at the door. 

 

Tailgate Spots around the track and grandstand reserved seats for the 2020 racing season are on sale now. Those wishing to renew the same spot that they had in previous years, may now do so. Spots will be reserved for their previous year’s owners until February 1st, 2020, at which time all remaining unsold spots will go on sale to the general public. Fans wishing to reserve their spot/seat from previous years please send a check made out to “B.A.C. Inc.” to P.O. Box 263, Bedford PA 15522. Tailgate spot and reserved seat prices remain the same as last year. If interested in reserving a spot or a seat, please contact the speedway office at 814-623-0500. We currently have a waiting list for tailgate spots; if spots come available those on the waitlist will be offered a spot. Read more »

Bedford Keystone Cup News & Notes

August 6th, 2019

The second annual Bedford Keystone Cup on September 27th & 28th is fast approaching. The Keystone Cup will be the biggest race in Bedford Speedway’s 83 year history and is the largest unsanctioned Late Model race in Pennsylvania this year. The Late Models will be racing for $15,000 to win, out of a Late Model purse of over $59,000. The 60 lap Late Model main event will pay $1000 just to take the green flag. Joining the Late Models in action will be Friday night shows for the Semi Lates and Pure Stocks, and Saturday night shows for the Late Model Sportsman and Modifieds.

 

When is it? Friday & Saturday, September 27th & 28th 2019. Friday gates open at 5:00, warmups at 7:00 with racing at 7:30. Saturday gates open at 2:00, warmups at 6:00, racing at 6:30.

Bedford Fair Notes:

July 17th, 2019

The Bedford County Fair Association will be presenting the 146th annual Bedford Fair Sweepstakes beginning on Sunday July 21st. 

Two nights of racing are planned at the fair, with a complete show Sunday and Friday nights. 

In racing action on Sunday night for the “Elmer Ruby Tribute” will be the Mason Dixon Shootout Series Late Model Sportsman racing 25 laps for $1000 to win. They are joined by the rescheduled Charlie Walter 42 lap tribute for the Pure Stocks, Racesaver Sprints and Four Cylinders. Read more »

Independence Day Doubleheader

July 2nd, 2019

As is tradition, Bedford Speedway will celebrate the July 4th holiday with a busy weekend or racing this week. 

Friday nights racing program will be highlighted by the annual Milt Miller Tribute for the Late Models, who will be joined by the Modifieds, Semi Lates, Sportsman Mods and Vintage cars. Four Cylinders. The Late Models will be racing 35 laps with $3000 going to the winner. Read more »

Bedford Upcoming Events: 

June 24th, 2019

This Friday Night, June 28th the Bedford Speedway will return to racing action with full racing program featuring the United Racing Club Sprint Cars. Also in racing action will be the Late Model Sportsman, Semi Lates, Pure Stocks & Four Cylinders. 

Before the evenings racing action begins, all drivers are welcome to bring their cars up to the midway for a meet and great with the fans. Drivers are encouraged to bring autograph cards and pictures, their racing shirts to sell, along with their racecar up to the Bedford midway. Fans are encouraged to come early and spend some time meeting the drivers and getting up close to the racecars. Read more »

Billy Winn Classic

May 28th, 2019

The annual Billy Winn Classic is coming Friday night, May 31st to the Bedford Speedway. The speedway will be celebrating 83 years of racing at the historic fairgrounds oval. An exciting night of racing is planned with the Super Late Models racing 50 laps joined by the Semi Lates and Pure Stocks. The winner’s share of Friday night’s Classic purse is $8300, with $600 to take the green, as part of a $35,000 total purse.

The Billy Winn Classic will be the first night of the four race KRS Graphics Super Late Model Challenge Series. After the first race at Bedford, the series will move to Port Royal, Williams Grove & Selinsgrove Speedways. An overall point fund will be paid out for the series, and the series champion will earn a guaranteed starting position in this fall’s Bedford Keystone Cup event.    Read more »

Grum- Burket Tribute Race Friday Night

May 21st, 2019

This Friday night, May 24th, the Bedford Speedway will honor the memories of two of this area’s greatest drivers, Johnny Grum & Turk Burket.

The special event will feature the Late Models, Semi Lates & Pure Stocks each racing in a 35 lap feature event. The Late Model 35 lap feature will pay $3000 to the winner while the  Semi Late feature pays the winner $800 and the Pure Stock winner will take home $500. The Penn Mar Vintage Club will also be in racing action.  

All drivers will draw a pill for heat starting position. Each of the three 35 lap features will be lined up with the top finishers in each heat redrawing for starting position.   Read more »

The speedway will be celebrating 83 years of racing at the historic fairgrounds oval. Friday’s racing program is dedicated to the memory of Billy Winn, one of the top dirt racers of the 1930’s and the winner of the first auto race at the Bedford on September 5th 1936. Winn, a 2003 inductee of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville was one of the most outstanding racers of the depression era AAA circuit. Not limiting himself to dirt, Winn also competed eight times at the Indianapolis 500. Hosting its first race in 1936, Bedford is the oldest currently operating track in Pennsylvania, and one of the ten oldest in the country. Read more »

April 26th & April 28th

After another weekend of rain wiped out racing action, Bedford will again try to kick off the 2019 racing season this weekend with a busy doubleheader of Friday and Sunday night racing. 

Fast Friday Racing returns with a special visit from the USAC East Coast Sprint Cars, joined by the Late Models ($2000 to win), Modifieds ($750 to win), and Pure Stocks ($300 to win) in racing action.

On Sunday night, adult spectator admission will be just $5.00. A full slate of racing action will include four 20 lap features, with the Late Model Sportsman, Racesaver Sprints, Semi Lates & Four Cylinders in action, with a special visit by the vintage racers. Read more »

Bedford This Friday…

After another weekend of rain wiped out racing action, Bedford will again try to kick off the 2019 racing season this Friday night, April 19th.
