Billy Winn Classic

The annual Billy Winn Classic is coming Friday night, May 31st to the Bedford Speedway. The speedway will be celebrating 83 years of racing at the historic fairgrounds oval. An exciting night of racing is planned with the Super Late Models racing 50 laps joined by the Semi Lates and Pure Stocks. The winner’s share of Friday night’s Classic purse is $8300, with $600 to take the green, as part of a $35,000 total purse.

The Billy Winn Classic will be the first night of the four race KRS Graphics Super Late Model Challenge Series. After the first race at Bedford, the series will move to Port Royal, Williams Grove & Selinsgrove Speedways. An overall point fund will be paid out for the series, and the series champion will earn a guaranteed starting position in this fall’s Bedford Keystone Cup event.    Read more »

Grum- Burket Tribute Race Friday Night

This Friday night, May 24th, the Bedford Speedway will honor the memories of two of this area’s greatest drivers, Johnny Grum & Turk Burket.

The special event will feature the Late Models, Semi Lates & Pure Stocks each racing in a 35 lap feature event. The Late Model 35 lap feature will pay $3000 to the winner while the  Semi Late feature pays the winner $800 and the Pure Stock winner will take home $500. The Penn Mar Vintage Club will also be in racing action.  

All drivers will draw a pill for heat starting position. Each of the three 35 lap features will be lined up with the top finishers in each heat redrawing for starting position.   Read more »

Friday’s racing program is dedicated to the memory of Billy Winn, one of the top dirt racers of the 1930’s and the winner of the first auto race at the Bedford on September 5th 1936. Winn, a 2003 inductee of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville was one of the most outstanding racers of the depression era AAA circuit. Not limiting himself to dirt, Winn also competed eight times at the Indianapolis 500. Hosting its first race in 1936, Bedford is the oldest currently operating track in Pennsylvania, and one of the ten oldest in the country. Read more »

After another weekend of rain wiped out racing action, Bedford will again try to kick off the 2019 racing season this weekend with a busy doubleheader of Friday and Sunday night racing. 

Fast Friday Racing returns with a special visit from the USAC East Coast Sprint Cars, joined by the Late Models ($2000 to win), Modifieds ($750 to win), and Pure Stocks ($300 to win) in racing action.

On Sunday night, adult spectator admission will be just $5.00. A full slate of racing action will include four 20 lap features, with the Late Model Sportsman, Racesaver Sprints, Semi Lates & Four Cylinders in action, with a special visit by the vintage racers. Read more »

Busy Weekend of Racing

After the first two attempts to get the 2019 racing season underway were washed out this past weekend, Bedford Speedway looks forward to a busy racing doubleheader coming up this week.

Opening Day Postponed to Sunday April 7th

With rain forecasted to come through the area all day Friday, speedway officials have made the decision to postpone the 2019 Opening Day two days, back to Sunday April 7th. Current weather models have Friday projected to be a complete washout, so an early decision has been made in the best interests of our fans and racers. With a wet and cold Friday preventing racing from taking place, a Sunday raindate offers the best opportunity to go racing this weekend in Bedford. 

Sunday April 7th will feature a busy day at the track, with our annual race car show going on from Noon- 3PM as part of the Bedford County Home Show at the Fairgrounds. All drivers and fans are invited to come out early to partake in the Home Show as well as the car show. Read more »

2019 Racing Season Notes:

Racers notes and some things of interest regarding the upcoming Bedford racing season which kicks off officially on Friday April 5th with our 83rd Anniversary Opening Day.

 

Annual Car Show: The spring racecar show will again be held in conjunction with the Bedford Home Garden & Lifestyle Show on Sunday April 7th. The Home & Garden Show takes place Saturday & Sunday all day at the Jordan Building on the fairgrounds. The car show portion of the event will take place on Sunday from Noon to 3pm. All racers are welcome to bring their cars out to the show on Sunday to meet and greet with their fans. Following the car show there will be open track sessions available to all racers from 3pm to 6pm. This is a great opportunity for drivers to show off their cars and meet their fans, as well as to gain on track practice time. Read more »

Champions crowned at Bedford Banquet; Speedway prepares for new season

Nearly 300 Bedford Speedway drivers, crew members and fans gathered inside the Bedford Elks Ballroom on Friday evening January 25th to bring an official close to the 2018 racing season with the annual Bedford Awards Banquet.

Honored at the banquet were the top ten point finishers in the Late Models, Late Model Sportsman, Semi Late, Modified, Pure Stock and Four Cylinder divisions.

Late Model Champion Jeff Rine was presented with his awards in recognition of his fifth Bedford Super Late Model title. Rine, of Danville, piloted the potent Elbin family #92 to four feature wins this season including a thrilling victory in the $15,000 to win Bedford Keystone Cup in September. Read more »

Renegades of Dirt Set For Inaugural Stop At Bedford Speedway In 2019!

The Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour which returns to high profile national touring status in 2019 is excited to announce the addition of Bedford Speedway to its upcoming schedule of events. One of the nation’s premier names in modified racing, the ‘Renegades’ will make its first ever visit to the Bedford Fairgrounds Speedway on Friday May 17th for a stellar $2000 to win Modified special.

Race fans can expect a fierce Friday night shootout as the areas hot shoes like Michael Altobelli, Drake Troutman, Alyssa Rowe, Jonathan Taylor and many more will be a high octane test for the touring “Renegades” of Dirt as they do battle for the first time at the 5/8 mile monster dirt oval.
