STICKLEY ENDS DRY SPELL BEFORE BEDFORD FALLS TO THE RAIN

 Travis Stickley ended a long long dry spell when he scored the big Limited Late Model win at Bedford Friday night.  Three more events on the card were completed before the remainder of the program was ended by a heavy rain shower.  Vic Vandergrift  led a home team sweep of the Mid Atlantic Emod event,  Greg Dobrosky won his first ever Bedford event in the 305 Sprints and Rick Hulson repeated in the All American event.   Rain began during the pace laps for the Pure Stocks, postponing that and the 4 Cylinder events to a future program.
     Stickley fought his way by both front row starters to lead the first Limited lap, but had Troy Swindell on his tail almost instantly.  In a race which went all the way green,  Swindell was all over Stickley but could not get by.  Ralph Morgan ran down the lead pair and the three ran under a blanket for the duration.  At one point mid race,  Josh Berrier and Robby Black joined in the lead pack,  but eventually they fell back to continue their personal battle. SINGLETON GETS FIRST 2015 BEDFORD WIN

 Rick Singleton, who won 9 events last season finally scored a 2015 first as the Limiteds went Topless at Bedford Monday night.  Ryan Lynn waited until the last lap to grab the lead and the win in 305 Sprint action.In other action on the holiday program, Bill Rexrode won the vintage car race,  Wavy Davey Lambert won his first ever Pure Stock event, Evan Taylor took the Economodified win and Ryan Peer finally got his first 2015 4 Cylinder win.
    Nathan Lasalle was the initial Limited leader and he held off all challenges.  But Rick Singleton, 2014’s big class winner, arrived on his bumper by lap three.Singleton was all over Lasalle as the laps rolled on but could not get by.  Meanwhile Kyle Lee and Mike Altobelli caught the leaders and joined the fun.   Read more »

SATTERLEE SCORES GRUM CLASSIC WIN AT BEDFORD

Gregg Satterlee rallied late then made it look easy as he scored the win at Bedford Friday night.  It was Satterlee’s second career win at the track and came in the Johnny Grum classic 40 lap Late Model event, worth $4000.  Lou Wannyn took his second 2015 Semi Late win, and Brad Feight won the Pure Stock event, before Mike McDonald scored his first ever race win in the 4 Cylinder finale.
     Pole sitter DJ Troutman grabbed the Late Model lead at the start, and he opened up a gap on the field early.  But visitor Steve Casebolt reeled him in by about lap 4 and gave Troutman a battle.  Casebolt roared underneath Troutman on lap 7 and took over. Read more »

FATHER LEADS YODER PARADE AT BEDFORD

Leading his son across the finish line, Jim Yoder scored his first ever Late Model win at Bedford Friday night.  In doing so he became the 135th different winner in the track’s long history and the third first time winner so far in 2015.  Former track champion Robby Black rallied late to score his first 2015 Limited win and Brian Duffy won the Semi Late event.  Post race  drama enveloped the remaining two events as Mike Duck (Pure Stock) and Eric Boozel  (4 Cylinder) were not the winners after crossing the finish line first.  First timer Travis Vogel and Dacron Powell prevailed in those events.
    Ji m Yoder jumped aroung Chuck Clise to lead the Late Model event from the start.  By lap three though, both Dylan Yoder and Jeff Rine had gotten by Clise and were in hot pursuit.  Yoder built a comfortable lead as the next two fought furiously for second.  When the first caution flew on lap 12,  It was Rine second between the two Yoders. COSNER GAINS REDEMPTION ON THE BEDFORD STAGE

Only a week after losing a career first  feature win on the last lap, Matt Cosner  recovered for the big Late Model win at Bedford Friday night.  Cosner became the 134th different Late Model winner  in the long history of the track and the fourth different winner in 2015.  Donnie Farlling ended a long dry spell with his second career Limited feature win, while Steve Dixon also scored a career first in Emod action.  Other winners in the six division show were Lou Wannyn (Semi Late), Rick Hulson (All American), and Fast Eddie Vogel in the Pure Stock finale.
    After a wild start which saw Chuck Clise get crossed up in front of the whole field, causing everyone to scatter without any contact, Cosner emerged with the lead.  DJ Troutman came from 4th to second and was all over Cosner almost from the start but could not pass. Read more »

RINE USES ALL 30 LAPS TO WIN BEDFORD

Jeff Rine needed all 30 laps to claim his first 2015 Late Model win at Bedford Friday night.  It was the second time in two seasons that Rine pulled off a last lap pass for the win, ironically, both times he has denied his victim a first career win.  Last year he bested Chad Hollenbeck at the line.  This time it was Matt Cosner.  It was Rine’s 18th career Bedford win, moving him into a tie with track legends Tom Clise and Bob Salathe for 8th on the all time list.

 

   Dave Brown became a two time 2015 Semi Late winner with similar late race drama, his move coming with two to go.  Sean Kirkpatrick won the 305 sprint event, Jonathan Taylor took another Emod win and Bailey Johnson closed the evening with a 4 Cylinder triumph. Read more »

PARKS PARKS ON THE BEDFORD STAGE

Matt Parks, who had an off 2014 season, returned to form as he devastated the Late Model field Friday night at Bedford. It was the first 2015 win for the former track champion and came by a huge margin over the chasing field. In other action in the packed six division show,

Josh Berrier scored his first win in several years in Limited action, as did Dave Brown in Semi Late racing and Ed Vogel rallied late to win the Pure Stock race. Vic Vandergrift took his first ever trip to the stage in the E-Mod event, before Dacron Powell took his career first win in the 4 Cylinder finale. By the luck of the draw in the early season event, Matt Parks started the Late Model event from the pole. He rushed by fellow front row starter Andy Haus at the start and never looked back. Haus found himself totally occupied with Jeff Rine for the first ten laps of the event until Rine’s car broke at that point, bringing out the event’s only yellow. Read more »

NEW BEDFORD WINNERS GREET NEW BEDFORD SEASON

Three first time winners emerged in the five events which opened up the 2015 Bedford Speedway season Friday night.  Gene Knaub, driving the legendary 43a became the 133rd different driver to score a Late Model win at the track, before Tyler Alkire scored his first ever win of any kind in the Pure Stock event.  Mike Altobelli Jr took the Limited win and Evan Taylor romped in the E-Mod race before Darren Howsare closed the evening with his first ever win of any kind in the wild 4 Cylinder event.
    By the luck of the draw in the opening day field, Gene Knaub lined up on the pole for the Late Model 25 lapper.  But it was outside pole starter DJ Troutman who got the jump on the field and led lap one.  Troutman looked strong as he boomed to a large lead in only two laps, before Knaub started reeling him in with Jeff Rine in hot pursuit Read more »

SINGLETON CAPS OFF FANTASTIC SEASON AT BEDFORD FALLFEST

  It was a night when the big winners kept winning as Bedford ended the 2014 season  with Fallfest 2014.  Rick Singleton capped off  his year with his ninth Limited win of the season, and Evan Taylor won a fifth Economodified event.  Jim Sayler, who had won three Fallfest events over the years, added a fourth Semi Late win, and  Cale Martin finished a late season rally with his third 4 Cylinder win in the last four weeks,. after track champ Jeff Rine had already won his fifth Late Model event  in the Friday night portion of Fallfest.  At the other end of the spectrum,  Ralph Engle won his first ever Bedford event in the special 305 Sprint show and Brian Duffy won his first race in over two years in the Pure Stock nightcap.
       Rick Singleton started fifth in the Limited 35 lapper.   Curtis Heath was the early leader and stayed in that spot as Singleton advanced.  Singleton got by on lap ten in what became a caution filled crashfest, but the frequent yellow flags kept the field close.  There were ten yellows thrown before the planned fuel stop on lap 18 as the entire field shifted around. RINE FINISHES BEDFORD SEASON WITH A WITH ANOTHER WIN

Jeff Rine capped off his dream season at Bedford as he scored another win in the Friday portion of the season ending Fall Fest at the track.  It was the fifth win of the season for the 2014 track champion, a tremendous rebound after going 2013 winless at the track.  It was also Rine’s 17th career Bedford win, moving him into a tie for tenth place on the all time track list with retired  Larry Wright.
    Chuck Clise led the field to the green and assumed the initial lead.  But after a lap one caution, DJ Troutman slid by Clise to lead lap two.  Troutman led and pulled away from Clise, Gene Knaub and a charging Rine over the next five or six laps,  But after about lap nine, the chasers all began to close on him.   Read more »
