    Steve Drevicki  etched his name in the Bedford Speedway record books as he won both the USAC midget and USAC sprint events in the same night Friday.  It was only the 6th  time in track history that a driver stood in Bedford’s Victory Lane twice in the same night, and only the second time its been done in two different divisions.

     In other action, Mike Altobelli Jr scored another Emod win, Nick Bechtell took the Pure Stock event and Casey Fleegle put the PT Cruiser in Victory Lane in 4 Cylinder action. Read more »

Bedford (Pa.) Speedway hosts its first USAC event this Friday night, June 8, when the Eastern Midgets and East Coast Sprint Cars compete at the Fairgrounds dirt oval for a doubleheader treat.

Shawn Jackson leads the Eastern Midgets to Bedford holding a 45-point lead over Andrew Layser. Alex Bright has won the past two Eastern Midget races, at BAPS Motor Speedway in York Haven, Pa. and at Big Diamond Speedway in Pottsville, Pa., while Tommy Kunsman, Jr. won the opener at Linda’s Speedway in Jonestown, Pa. After over a week of rain and a Friday night rainout of the regularly scheduled show, Bedford used a Sunday raindate to beat Mother Nature and take advantage of a beautiful evening for racing. Jeff Rine won his first Late Model feature of the season, while George Dixon, Jr. won the Late Model Sportsman thriller. Beau Aikey was the Modified winner; Bill Replogle and Kyle Weyant were the Semi Late and Pure Stock winners.

Matt Sponaugle and Chuck Clise brought the Late Model field to the green for their 25 lap feature. Clise took the early lead as Andy Fries moved to second. Behind them Jeff Rine was on the move, taking third on lap three and second from Fries on lap seven. Once Rine reached Clise the duo ran side by side for several laps, while dealing with lapped traffic before Rine was able to finally clear Clise completely on lap 14. While this was going on Dylan Yoder and first time visitor Tyler Bare were also on the move with Yoder finally taking a close third behind Fries, with Clise fourth at the line and Bare moving up to fifth. Advanced admission tickets to the September 28^th & 29^th 2018, inaugural Bedford Keystone Cup for the Late Models are available for purchase from the speedway. The Keystone Cup Late Model winner will take home $15,000, part of an A-Main purse of over $54,000, the largest payout in Bedford history. The lucrative purse will pay $1000 to start the feature.

   The racing weather in Bedford Friday night was winterlike cold, but Dave Troutman was hot for 25 laps.  Troutman, who  waited a decade between Bedford feature wins before scoring last week, jumped back in only seven days later to score again in Friday night action.   The recent pair of wins doubled Troutmans career total to four Late Model wins at the track, the other both coming in late 2007.  In other action, first time winners reigned as Kyle Ganoe scored his first career 305 win and Troy Johnson took the EMod event.  Josh Frankenberry took the Pure Stock event before Wayne Brenize ended his short retirement with a 4 Cylinder win.

     A bit of luck accompanied Troutman for the evening.  As only the second event of the season, the lineup was determined by pill draw and Troutman was not handicapped in the field as the recent featuire winner.  Then Troutman again benefitted as front row starters DJ Troutman and Nathan Lasalle both failed to answer the call for the start, moving him two spots forward.          Dave Troutman rose to the occasion and scored the big Late Model win as Bedford opened the 2018 season Friday night.  For long time Bedford racer Troutman, it was his third career Late Model win but the first in over a decade, the last coming in 2007.  Justin Weaver,Bill Replogle,, Mike Altobelli and Garrett Watkins joined Troutman as happy winners in the wild opening day festivities.

    Pill draw set the Late Model feature lineup in the opening day action, and it was the Troutman family front row for the start.  Father Dave Troutman got the jump on DJ and led the first lap.  But four cautions flew in the first two laps as the antsy field couldn’t get settled. Read more »
