   The Mason Dixon Limited group brought 31 cars to Bedford for a special Holiday show on Sunday but it was Bedford regular Robby Black in Victory Lane at the conclusion of the 25 lap event.  It was Black’s third Bedford win in the four events at the track this season and added one more as he closes in on track career leader Dale Brenneman.  In the companion headliner, Jim Dearmitt won the prestigious Charlie Walter Memorial for Pure Stocks after Kye Weyandt failed the tech line.  In other action, Drew Ritchey went the distance for the 305 win, Darren Howsare took the 4 Cylinder event and Glen Whrightstone won the Vintage car feature.

 

     Donnie Farlling was the initial Limited event leader ahead of Brian Lowery.  But Robby Black was on the prowl early.  He was up to second on lap three and hounded Farlling for several laps.  On lap six, Black swept by for the lead.

 

    Derrek Quade,  a series regular, followed Black to the front and  appeared in second a lap later.  Quade chased Black for the duration and then also held off a charging Justin Weaver as the laps wore down.  Quade was able to close on Black repeatedly but was unable to secure the lead.   Read more »

   Bedford Speedway outran the rain and Matt Cosner outran the field to take the Milt Miller Tribute event Friday night at Bedford.  It was Cosner’s second consecutive win in the Miller Classic and his second Bedford win of the season.  In other action, usual class winners Bob Jay and Wayne Brenize took wins in the Semi Late and 4 Cylinder events,   while Beau Aikey scored his first ever EMod win

 

   Jeff Rine and Andy Haus brought the field to the green for the 35 lap Miller Tribute.  Rine, who is used to starting deep in the Bedford fields due to point averaging, seized the opportunity of the front row start and took immediate command.  Over the first 20 all green flag laps, Rine built up a decent lead over the field, lapping up to the 14th place car.

    The Pure Stocks and 4 Cylinders made a weekend encore appearance along with music at the Rock and Race event.  A small field of each class were on hand at the rare Saturday night event.

 

    Barry Weyandt was on the pole for the Pure Stock race but when his car died on the pace lap, he retired.  Denny Pittman led the first lap before Kyle Weyandt got by.  Weyandt then led the distance to score the win over Dave Lambert and Pittman.

    The 2017 edition of Late Model Speedweek stopped at Bedford and produced a first time winner, Walker Arthur.  Arthur became the 138th different Late Model winner at the historic speedway and it came in the track’s 600th Late Model event, adding his name to those who will be honored at festivities at the track later this season.  In other action, Alyssa Rowe held off the Taylor brothers to score the EMod win and Denny Pittman took the Pure Stock event after some post race controversy

 

      By the luck of the draw, Walker Arthur and Jeff Rine led the Late Model field to the green and Arthur grabbed the early lead.   Rine was in hot pursuit in the early laps, actually making a bid for the lead as he suffered a flat tire on lap 12.   The resulting yellow, the only slow down of the event, placed Austin Hubbard on Arthur’s rear bumper. Mark Smith and Jeff Rine were the big winners as the URC sprints joined the regular Late Model program at Bedford Speedway Fridaynight.   Smith took the URC event to score his third career Bedford win,  while Rine’s Late Model win, the 22nd of his career and second in a row, moved him into a fourth place tie with Rick Eckert on the track win list.  In other action, Bob Jay moved to the top of the Semi Late career win list with his 30th conquest, Wayne Brenize won the 4 Cylinder event and Tyler Ritchey took the Pure Stock win.

 

      Chris Coyle led the URC field to the green flag and led the opening laps.   A lap seven caution closed the field on him and led to the most severe accident in the event as Brett Michalski and Keith Prutzman tangled on the restart, but Coyle hung on.   Read more »

    Trey Sparks rolled into Bedford Sunday as the AllStar Sprints made the last stop on their Pennsylvania  weekend, and before he left he had scored the big win.  It was is first ever Bedford victory as well as his first ever AllStar win.   In other Sunday action, Kyle Weyandt took the Pure Stock race while Casey Fleegle turned the tables by winning the 5 Cylinder finale in the tech line, the way he had lost in Friday action.

 

    Lucas Wolfe led the Sprint cars to the start and took the initial lead, before Ryan Smith took a wild spin and wall collision in turn one on lap two.   On the restart,  Trey Stark got the jump on Wolfe and zoomed into the lead, a position he held until the red flag halted proceedings on lap 5.

     Defending track champion Jeff Rine scored his first 2017 Late Model win at Bedford Friday night.  It was Rine’s first Bedford win since August 2015 and the 21st of his career, moving him into a fifth place tie with Tom Peck.  In other Action,  George Dixon was the recipient of good luck to score his first ever Limited win,  Jesse Snyder took his second consecutive Semi Late win , Evan Taylor won the EMod event before Darren Howsare took the 4 Cylinder finale.

 

    By the luck of the draw in the special event, Jeff Rine and Matt Cosner found themselves on the front row for the Late Model event.  After some first turn first lap chaos. Rine emerged with the lead while Cosner fell back to fifth.  Over the first 13 all green flag laps, Rine moved out to a huge advantage over DJ Troutman and Chuck Clise, but that was wiped out.

 

    On the restart, Rine again roared away, but Troutman and Clise found themselves under attack from Cosner.  Cosner got Clise on lap 15 and set off after Troutman.   Cosner finally made the move for second, getting by Troutmsn on the last lap,  but Rine was on his way to the win.  Cosner rallied for second, ahead of Troutman, Clise and Matt Sponaugle.
