SHAWN JONES SCORES BEDFORD FIRST WIN

Shawn Jones, making his first Bedford start in quite a while, made the trip out rewarding as he scored his first career win at the track in the special topless Limited event Sunday night.  Joining Jones in the limelight were Reed Thompson in the 305 event, Cale Martin in the 4 Cylinders, and, after a lot of post race drama, Brad Feight in the Charlie Walters 42 lap Pure Stock event.  Glen Pobletts won the special old timers race.
Shaun Jones led the Limited field to the green and took the early lead but could not shake George Dixon and Dan Zechman.  Behind them raged a wild 5 car battle in the pack with positions changing every lap.  Read more »

COSNER CRUSHES BEDFORD FIELD

Matt Cosner rose to the occasion and crushed a tough Late Model field to claim the Milt Miller Cup at Bedford Friday night. The 35 lap event, held in the memory of former racer Milt Miller, was worth $3000 to Cosner and was his first 2016 win at the track.  Greg Hainsey held off a mob in a wild three wide dash to the finish to gain the Semi Late event, before Rick Hulson scored his first ever EMod win.  Ryan Peer closed the exciting evening with a 4Cylkinder win
    When fast timer and heat winner Gregg Satterlee drew the pole for the event,  most people figured the race was already decided.  And Satterlee did not disappoint as he shot off at the drop of the green.  But the first lap was never completed as a ten car pileup erupted in turn three and the red flew.     After cleanup operations, the field realigned for a start just as a shower hit the track and everyone went to the pits. ENGLE AND TROUTMAN STAR AT BEDFORD.

   Defending Late Model track champion DJ Troutman and 305 racer Ralph Engle both rallied late to score wins at Bedford Speedway Friday night.  Greg Cornell took the Semi Late win and Jonathan Taylor continued the Taylor family domination of the E Mod division.  In the evening’s most controversial event, Travis Group took the Pure Stock nightcap.
    Allen Brannon led the Late Model field to the green and took the initial lead.   But from the end of the first lap, Andy Haus was all over Brannon with a furious attack.   Lap after lap Haus tried the leader to no avail.   When the leaders caught the first lapped car on lap 7, Brannon went high and Haus shot low, splitting the lapped car.    and almost getting the lead Read more »

BLACK SNAGS BEDFORD WIN

After post race drama, Robby Black snared his first Bedford win of the season in the special Limited event at Bedford Friday night.  Lou Wannyn  scored the Semi Late win and Jonathan Taylor took another EModified win before more post race drama resulted in a Bill Replogle Pure Stock victory.  Darren Howsare went pole to pole in the 4 Cylinder nightcap.
     After a quick lap one caution for Kyle Lee who stopped on the track, Kadden Smith led the early laps of the Limited event.  Smith held off Donnie Farlling and Justin Weaver early until Weaver shot by for the lead on lap 6.  After that Weaver ran off to a large lead until Dan Zechman heavily impacted the wall on lap 11. DICKSON SCORES SPEEDWEEK OPENER AT BEDFORD

    Bedford semi regular Nick Dickson dominated the field to score the big win as Late Model Speedweek began at Bedford Friday night.  The win, worth $4000, was the 8th of Dickson’s career at the track but his first since late 2011.  In other action, Jesse Snyder rallied late to score a dramatic last lap win in the Semi Late event and Evan Taylor claimed another EMod win.
    Dickson got the jump on Jared Miley at the start and built up a comfortable lead over the field by the time Larry Baer stopped on track, bringing out the first caution on lap 10.  Miley, while chasing Dickson, found himself under attack from Max Blair, who was hoping to repeat his win of last week. MAX ATTACK AT BEDFORD

With a spectacular late race rally, Max Blair scored the win in the Johnny Grum Classic 40 at Bedford Friday night..  With the win he became the 136th different winner at the track, joining his father on that prestigious list.  In other action, Jonathan Taylor again dominated the E Mod event, Justin Michael won the Semi Late race and Wayne Brenize prevailed in the 4 Cylinder closer.
      When slated front row starter Jared Miley elected to start tail on the field, Gene Knaub eagerly joined Jeff Rine up front for the start.  Rine brought the field to the green but it was Knaub leading at the completion of lap one.  Max Blair secured second on lap two and settled in at that spot chasing Knaub.
   Lap after lap the front pair ran in that order as Jason Covert and Gregg Satterlee charged from the pack.  But the real charger in the field was Matt Cosner.   By the time of the only yellow, for a stalled car in turn three on lap 22, Cosner was up to fifth,  behind Knaub, Blair, Covert and Satterlee. HAUS DOMINATES BEDFORD

Andy Haus, who had the Late Model field wired last week before motor issues arose ,managed  to seal the deal this time with a  dominating Late Model win in Bedford action Friday night.  It was Haus’ 4th career win at the track as he chases his famous father’s class leading total.  Evan Taylor scored one for the home team as the Mid Atlantic Modifieds invaded the track with 29 on hand.  Jesse Snyder scored a rousing last lap win in Semi Late action before Kyle Weyandt (Pure Stock)  and Wayne Brenize (4 Cylinder) capped the eventful evening with wins.
     In addition to Haus’ misfortune in the most recent event,  his other 2016 appearance at Bedford resulted in a feature non start after problems in warmups.  That record rewarded his with pole position in Friday’s 25 lapper and he made the best of it.  Haus got the drop on Chuck Clise at the start and dominated the event.   Read more »

YODER A LAST LAP HERO AT BEDFORD

For the first time in almost a month, Bedford completed a Friday night show and the excitement level was worth the wait.  Dylan Yoder took the Late Model win with a stunning last lap rally and  Dan Zechman took the Limited event by holding  off a last lap rally.  Chad Gambol took the Semi Late win in that even,t which featured  the wildest Bedford crash in many years, before Beau Aikey and Ryan Peer completed the evening with wins.
    Andy Haus and DJ Troutman brought the Late Model field to the green and it was Haus ripping to the lead at the start.  Jeff Rine secured second on lap two and took off after the leader.  The front pair ran off from the field both before and after the event’s only caution, thrown when Dacron Powell and Travis Wilson tangled on lap 7. KEMENAH SNAGS BIG BEDFORD WIN

The All Star Circuit of Champions headlined the second night of Bedford’s 2016 opening weekend, and it was All Star Chad Kemenah scoring the big win. Travis Group scored the win in the Pure Stock season opener while Wayne Brenize won the 4 Cylinder nightcap.

Mark Smith and Cap Henry led the 25 car field to the green, but it was Kemenah at the front early. He opened a huge lead in the early laps as the front row, joined by Greg Hodnett and Lucas Wolfe joined in. Hodnett slecured second before halfway and began chopping into Kemenah’s lead. Read more »

KANN SCORES BEDFORD OPENER

Justin Kann ended a long Bedford dry spell as he took the Late Model win in the track’s 80th anniversary opener Friday night.It was Kann’s first Bedford win since 2013 and the third of his career at the track.   Travis Stickley took his second career win in Limited action after some late race drama.  Don Wyles took the Semi Late checkered flag in third but ended up with the win after some post race drama. His dry spell dated back almost a decade.  Jonathan Taylor and Darren Howsare capped the evening with wins in the Emod and 4 Cylinder events.
    Justin Kann and Jeff Rine brought the Late Model field to the green in their 25 lapper, and it was Kann with the jump at the start.  Rine, who is used to coming from deep in the field in Bedford events was all over Kann lap after lap but could not get by.  Behind them it was a wild battle between Matt Cosner and Dylan Yoder, joined late by Kyle Hardy.
