Moore & Troutman win Keystone Cup Sunday features.

Bedford Speedway’s Keystone Cup weekend was extended an extra day to Sunday, after heavy rains forced the postponement of the Late Model Sportsman and Modified features Saturday night. The speedway made the decision to complete the two features with a Sunday afternoon make up race, with free admission to everyone. 

Spike Moore took home the win in the 20 lap Late Model Sportsman main event. Devin Weyandt led the first 12 laps before a caution bunched up the field, allowing Moore to erase the lead Weyandt had built. On the ensuing restart Moore got by Weyandt to lead the last eight laps and the win. Following Moore across the line were Clinton Hersh, Chad Meyers, Kadden Smith and Donnie Farlling. Hersh and Taylor Farlling won the heats on Saturday night. Read more »

ECKERT GRABS BEDFORD KEYSTONE CUP

    Rick Eckert emerged from the pack to score a dominating win and take the Bedford Speedway Keystone Cup Saturday night.   The win along with the Labor Day 55 a few weeks ago gave Eckert a sweep of the two biggest races of the season at the track and rewarded Eckert with over $22,000 in his two appearances.  It was Eckert’s second Bedford win of the year and his 24th Bedford win, fourth on the all time list.

     With lightning in the distance and dire weather forecast, most in attendance were convinced that the race would not go the 60 lap distance, Ross Bailes brought the field to the green.   but outside pole sitter Gregg Satterlee was up to the challenge, going side by side with Bailes the first three laps before emerging with the undisputed lead. BAILES DOMINATES BEDFORD CUP QUALIFYING

     Ross Bailes made his long trip to Bedford rewarding as he completely dominated Friday qualifying for the annual Keystone Cup event.  Bailes set fast time, won his qualifying semi feature and ended the evening with a win in the dash to set the starting field.  Bailes’ dash win earned him the pole for Saturday’s 60 lap event ahead of Gregg Satterlee, Rick Eckert and Matt Cosner.

    The Semi Lates and Pure Stocks ran complete programs  on the Friday program with Jesse Snyder and Dalton Ritchey scoring season ending wins. Read more »

GARRETT BARD AND SPIKE MOORE AT BEDFORD

     On the second night of Fallfest 2019, two more drivers added their names to Bedford history by scoring their first ever wins at the track.  Garrett Bard  in a rare Bedford appearance, took the 305 headline event and Nick Bechtell, a Pure Stock graduate, took the Semi Late win in his first ever Bedford start in that class.   Greg Moore used a dramatic last lap charge to take the Limited victory before Jonathan Taylor closed the evening with a dominating EMod win.

 

    Thirty 305 sprints packed the pits for the rare Saturday Bedford event.  Garrett Bard drew the pole in the pill draw and made the best of his luck.  He got the jump at the start and led all 25 laps.   He had a large lead wiped out by the event’s only yellow flag incident on lap nine, but pulled away again on the restart. TIM SMITH LEADS PARADE OF NEW WINNERS AT BEDFORD

   It was a night of new winners Friday at Bedford as three of the four feature events fell to first timers.  Tim Smith Jr a former champion in support racing at the track, roared to his first ever Late Model win in the 30 lap event worth $2000.  It was his first Bedford win since a Limited event win in May 2013.

 

    In other action, history was made as Charlie Clise scored his first ever Bedford win in the Pure Stock event.  By doing so he followed  his famous dad Chuck and more famous granddad Tom Clise as winners at the track, making him the third third generation racer to do so,    Cameron Campbell was also a first time winner in the rare appearance of the Crate EMods, before 2019 champion Ryan Peer ended the new guy karma with a repeat 4 Cylinder win. REUTZEL LEADS ALL STAR CHARGE THROUGH BEDFORD

    On the night before the night before area event, Aaron Reutzel led the charge of All Star Sprints at the Bedford Speedway Thursday night.  It was Reutzel’s first ever Bedford feature win and came in dominating fashion leading every one of the 30 laps.  In the only other event on the card, Justin Williamson also scored a first ever Bedford win in 4 Cylinder action.

 

    After winning the Dash,  Aaron Reutzel led the 24 car All Star starting field to the green.   He go a great start and took the initial lead moving out to a healthy advantage over the field as battles raged all through the pack.  Read more »

NEW WINNERS GRACE BEDFORD SUNDAY SHOW

Bedford Speedway completed its second show of the
Labor Day weekend and four of the seven victors scored
their first ever wins at the track. First timers Larry McVey
and Garrett Bard scored the wins in 305 action while
Tyler Ritchey and Bruce Broadwater scored first time
wins in Limited and Pure Stock races. Comparative old
hands Donnie Farlling (Late Model Sportsman),Travis Calhoun (Semi Late)
and Ryan Peer (Four Cylinders) took the remaining wins. Read more »

ECKERT RETURNS TO TRIUMPH AT BEDFORD

For the first time in over 25 years Rick Eckert scored the win in Late
Model action Friday night at Bedford, a track he once dominated.
Eckert’s win came in the annual Labor Day 55 at the track and was
worth a whopping $7055. In other action, Jonathan Taylor completely
dominated the Emod twenty lapper while the Pure Stock event fell to
the curfew.

Mason Zeigler and Andy Haus brought the field to the green with
Zeigler grabbing the early lead. Haus chased Zeigler while holding off a
fast charging Jason Covert. Covert got by Haus on lap 8 and almost
instantly chased down Ziegler. Read more »

STRADA DOMINATES USAC RETURN TO BEDFORD

    Eddie Strada,  who once lost a Bedford win at the scale, atoned in a big way with a dominating win Friday as the USAC sprint cars made a return visit.  Strada led the distance and was never challenged in the 25 lap feature event.  Other winners in the five event program were Donnie Farlling in the Limited event, Kyle Weyandt  in Semi Late action and Josh Frankenberry, who swept two Pure Stock events, one a makeup of a July 21 rainout.

 

    In the USAC event, slowed by only two quick early cautions,Strada drew the pole position.  He got the jump on the field and never looked back.   Steve Drevici took second early with Carmen Perigo third but they never closed on Strada, who effortlessly handled lapped traffic and won by a huge margin. LASALLE CONTINUES FAMILY TRADITION WITH BEDFORD WIN

     In an event filled with heartbreak, drama and a wild last lap challenge, Nathan Lasalle scored his first ever Late Model feature win at Bedford Friday night.  With the win, Lasalle became the 144th different feature winner in the track’s long history,  and following his famous father Dion’s win over 20 years ago, they became the tenth father son combination winners at the track.

    Lasalle led a night of second generation winners as three of the four victors fit that category.  Kyle Deneen and Drake Troutman were the Pure Stock and EMod winners joining Lasalle.  Only the Semi Late winner Greg Hainsey was A first generation winner. Read more »
